my girlfriend has just bought a 05 reg ibiza s 1.4, 30,000k on the clocks, one lady owner.

i drove it yesterday and it seemed very slow to me, like the pick up speed. pulling away in first seems slow and you have to rev it high to pull away at a decent speed. is this normal in the ibizas, its not missing or anything and its runing sweet.

ive got an the same car, same milage, but mines 04 and i think its how the car is, its only a 1.4 8v and needs to be pushed to above 3k revs before feeling any noticeable pull....

When I had my 1.4, it felt exactly the same. If you don't give it enough revs to pull away it bogs down a bit, which is not good when going for a gap you think you can make lol.

i find there's a dead spot from 2 - 3k, past 3k revs is where you can get something decent so keep it rev happy

Is yours 16v or 8v ?

I had an 8v Polo for years and it really did,nt go all that great. It pulled ok in the lower gears but flattened off over 70mph. :(

I drove a few 1.4 16v and they were much better and picked up well 3k on :D

If yours has been driven by a older lady it may simple need a tune and some injector cleaner additive to clear any carbon.
