1.4TSI Jerky Acceleration and gear changes

Started off around a month ago with the P0106 fault code, not long after getting my Milltek cat back and Silencer delete. Although I've checked the MAP Sensor, cleaned it out, cleared the code etc, the code is still present and I'm having a great deal of trouble under acceleration after pulling off from a stand still.

Through 1st to 4th gear, it seems like the revs are bouncing up and down, jerking through the gears and then the gear changes feel like that of a learner driver in a manual. (bearing in mind, this will happen on a drive, and then even the same day or following day when I next drive it, the issue clears up for anything from a few days to a week and will drive as smooth as a nut)

If anyone has any experience or recommendations/information, that would be greatly appreciated. Thanks in advance.

Check your intake isnt blocked, Make sure your sensors are fully connected properly and then clean out your throttle

I'll definitely give it a try, perhaps order a new MAP sensor whilst I'm at it (although would a MAP Sensor really cause jerkiness like this?)

Worth replacing Spark Plugs and Coils Packs for peace of mind?

Hey marvolo

Yes all the things you said spark plug, Coil pack could need changing. But I would do things methodically. As you do not want to throw money away on somethings it not. So just one thing at a time. But if spark plugs are more than.4 years old u may want to do that anyway but again I would still do one thing at a time so you can exactly pin point what caused it for any potential future reference . Also if you if you do change spark plugs u. May want to carry out a.compression test whilst you have. Them out to guage up health of engine

Looking around online it seems that a dodgy MAP Sensor or wiring to the MAP Sensor can cause a rough idle, rough acceleration, running rich and occasional backfire etc, which all seem to be my symptoms to be perfectly honest

Yes that could be true but it also could be bad anboyng timing. To be honest your cars code is throwing up a code pointing to map sensor. So you may want to call euro CP and ask on teir returns policy. So that u can buy a new one and it 8f don't solve problem you can simply return it. Has you car making any suckling noise in the engine bay ( I. E do you have a vacuum leak some where) Check all your hoses are connected proper especially by MAF. What you may want to do before you buy anything is wait until engine is cold and then jack it up so you can get under it and then have car turned on and feel around your exhaust and see if you have any air escaping ( u can use a piece of paper and see if it flutters. Obviously don't wait too long as piping will get hot
