Has anyone any idea what to use to get the one exhaust manifold nut undone that's underneath the manifold between the turbo exhaust housing and compressor? It's the second bottom nut in from the gearbox end.

Heeeeeelllllllp!!!!!

I've got everything undone on the manifold except that one nut.

I undid the turbo to mani bolts in the hope the turbo would drop a bit to give some clearance, but no such luck. I can't get at it from underneath - o/s driveshaft housing is in the way.

I can just get a 1/4 drive socket through, but the largest 1/4 socket I've got is 7/16 and I'm not 100% sure it'll line up. It's an hours round trip to get a 12mm 1/4 drive socket now (which might not work)

Anyone?

short spanner & stick your hand down there - all accessible from the top - just very very awkward

What a PIA swapping an exhaust manifold is!

I'll try and knock a guide together when I'm finished. (Bad light and cold stopped play)

You can reach the nut I've been moaning about with a 12mm ratchet spanner (and your hand stuffed up behind the turbo exhaust housing.)

Top tip for putting the new nut on that stud......
Fix the new nut onto the end of a 1/4" extension with a blob of bluetack. It can be fed over the top of the turbo and threaded on the stud for several turns before the bluetack gives. :funk: :funk: :funk:

i did mine last month, ended up removing the turbo to get it off, took me a day but that included fitting exhaust as well, also had use of a ramp. (picks in build thread)
