I'd just like to say that I got an indicated 52.0mpg AVERAGE!!!* in my ~260bhp hybrid turbo 1.8T :D:D:D

I drove like a granny all the way from Oxford to Bristol doing exactly the speed limit on the A-Roads, and 56mph behind lorries on the M4. It was surprisingly exciting trying to increase my mpg, but it was anything to keep me interested after a long day at Silverstone and then a gig in Oxford.

* LCR injectors offset this a little I know, but I'm guessing I'm still seeing a realistic 45mpg or so, which is still bloody good in my opinion :)

Lol, I know, but it's nice to know my car can do economical if I REALLY have to :p

Aside from MPG watching, it was a pretty boring trip and took me over an hour and a half to get from Oxford to Bristol late on a Sunday night :ban:

Highest I've seen on the current MPG is 72 :p (That was for about a minute though haha) I'd say I get around 35mpg when I'm driving semi-sensibly.

First couple of weeks of owner ship I was getting very low double figure, even dipping to 9 once!

On a long run I have had 40mpg, normal driving round town and A roads i average 28-30.

Why do you want good mpg from a 20vt petrol though?
I'd love to have the noise of a 20vt with the mpg figures of my pd! Managed over 70mpg average on the motorway doing 70-80mph not to make any of you jealous :p

42.5 average for a 20 mile trip to Bristol and back, was like 3 in the morning though so didn't have to worry how slow I was going lol

im getting mid 20s all the time at the min seams to of got a few mpg better with the cat out the only time it really gets drove slowly is when its cold

They do better than that! I did 460 miles in mine, not dropping below 100 much when i got my last set of wheels on it and got home and it had avaeraged about 44-45, that was a good 6 hours of foot down haha

I think it should be a rule if you get over 35mpg average over a full tank you should have a vagina

Thats a dopey rule lol, I need to save a bit of money! :p As it happens, my average mpg over the last 2000+ miles on trip B is under 35, which with the larger injectors makes around 30 or less lol

I don't want high mpg all the time, or I would have bought a diesel lol :p I just fancied seeing how high I could get it, as it will probably be the only time in the cars life that the average mpg reads over 50

The best I have had is 45.1mpg doing about 55-60mph. Car is a 1.8t seat sport cooler, stage 2 map, standard turbo. No hybrid turbo or different injectors.

Try running a 2.0T FSI..... Drive to work @ 60mph will get circa 33-35 mpg but in the way home I normally get 26-28 mpg!!! Even less in town...

I used to manage around about 30 to 32mpg being nice to mine when it just had a stage one map, this got worse with the miltek cat back tho and now with the decat as well im permanantly on the loud pedal :D the pops and bangs are addictive but does make the mpg suffer im suually in the mid to late 20s on the mpg these days but still if you want economy you get a diesel :)
