1.9 tdi pumping noise on startup?

Hi, this is my first post so I'll apologies in advance if this has already been discussed.

I've just bought myself a 1.9 tdi Altea XL (105) on an 08 plate, as we've just ahd our second baby and nbeeded more space to ferry the kids around blah blah blah....

It seemed fine when I got it but just recently I've noticed that when I start it up from cold, there seems to be a pumping noise coming from the engine bay somewhere.

The noise disappears after a few minutes and you can only hear it when your outside the car. So there is a chance that its always been there, but I've just never noticed it before as I've always been inside the car once I've started it up.

Has anyone ever encountered anything like this before? What is it? Do I need to be concerned? Do I need to book it into a garage to check it out?

Any help would be much appreciated guys.

On the 1.9 tdi when you first turn the ignition on the fuel pump primes itself. this noise is a sort of squeltch / fluid pumping noise. It's perfectly normal.
