Not sorted anything out tbh.
The reason being is that it hasn't sent out the red arrows smoke like it did a few weeks back (first time). Still just smokier than it has been historically. Spoke to a spanner man and he reckoned leave as is until the
problem shows up properly. Its not too bad tbh but far from great and a little embarrassing. When it did its red arrows attempt the fuel economy was about 5 mpg lower than normal so thought something was up. Since that day (almost like a clear out) it is back to where it normally sits. The car ran a few days prior to the smoke incident at this low mpg rate and it didn't 'feel' right. This was marginal and only something you would know after driving the same car for such a long time.
Since then I ran VCDS thought it a week or so back and no codes. I haven't done a system reset for a while (disconnect battery) which I used to do every six months without fail. Been a good year now. Car in for an mot today so will probably reset when I get home at some point. Mad with work atm and stuff on top to deal with every night when I get back in (major garden job on the go and working until it gets dark every night). The reset will be done imminently.
Finally been running on Millers additive since new (2004) and would recommend it. I buy it by the gallon as its much cheaper and lasts for years (via OPIE). Forte is good stuff but I think that BG244 is the silver bullet when it comes to injector/system cleaner. A bottle of this goes through annually. It might be overkill with the Millers but that's the worse that can happen.
If it were me at this stage I would do a system rest (disconnect battery) and run a bottle of BG244 through it. It should at least
help and it is cheap and easy before going any further. For the record I disconnect overnight but I think some people say 10-30 mins is enough for a reset.
