You are lucky then I think ! What power/torque is she putting out then on the stage 2 level, mine has a Celtic tuning remap and full Miltek system and green panel filter otherwise standard. RR figures of .... 204bhp and 316lbs/ft.

I can't remember the exact numbers as it has been on various RR's over the years

All sorts of different numbers from the RR lottery. The highest figures were 205bhp and 329lbs/ft with figures in the 190's too and under 320lbs. With lots in between.

Unless you go hybrid around about 200 is the limit for the stock Garrett.

Stage 2 is just tailored to your setup/mods. Stage 1 will be near as damn in on the figures tbh.

I assume that you are running an uprated clutch as over the 300 mark the torque often kills the clutch. On occasion it doesn't - black magic :D

Just an update... car still smoking, seems to be worse before warmed up, not managed to get any tests done yet on injectors so still mystified what is causing it. Car is as as good as ever on fuel and there is no difference in performance .... Put a can of Forte injector cleaned into a half tank of Shell VPower and this seemed to help a bit (but maybe my imagination ! )
Did you get any further with your smoke problem HUSBANDOFSTINKY ?

Not sorted anything out tbh.

The reason being is that it hasn't sent out the red arrows smoke like it did a few weeks back (first time). Still just smokier than it has been historically. Spoke to a spanner man and he reckoned leave as is until the problem shows up properly. Its not too bad tbh but far from great and a little embarrassing. When it did its red arrows attempt the fuel economy was about 5 mpg lower than normal so thought something was up. Since that day (almost like a clear out) it is back to where it normally sits. The car ran a few days prior to the smoke incident at this low mpg rate and it didn't 'feel' right. This was marginal and only something you would know after driving the same car for such a long time.

Since then I ran VCDS thought it a week or so back and no codes. I haven't done a system reset for a while (disconnect battery) which I used to do every six months without fail. Been a good year now. Car in for an mot today so will probably reset when I get home at some point. Mad with work atm and stuff on top to deal with every night when I get back in (major garden job on the go and working until it gets dark every night). The reset will be done imminently.

Finally been running on Millers additive since new (2004) and would recommend it. I buy it by the gallon as its much cheaper and lasts for years (via OPIE). Forte is good stuff but I think that BG244 is the silver bullet when it comes to injector/system cleaner. A bottle of this goes through annually. It might be overkill with the Millers but that's the worse that can happen.

If it were me at this stage I would do a system rest (disconnect battery) and run a bottle of BG244 through it. It should at least help and it is cheap and easy before going any further. For the record I disconnect overnight but I think some people say 10-30 mins is enough for a reset.

Hi mate and thanks for the info, I did not know about the "reset" but have done it now overnight. I am taking the car for a 500 mile journey so will fill up with Shell Vpower and see how it goes. Have got a guy to loot at it next week (he is a PD expert and got a Golf with ARL engine putting out 320BHP ), BTW where do you get that injection cleaner you mentioned ? Thanks....

I get the BG244 off ebay (whoever is cheapest) and with the Millers usually OPIE. The last load of Milllers was a couple of years ago (ecomax but was called diesel power sports before then). It usually costs about £65-£75 but lasts for about three years feeding all three cars at three fill ups a month. For the Leon the 5 litres should do 100 fill ups.

I would really recommend the Millers and have been running on it for years. In simplistic terms I believe it transforms stock Shell into some kind of V power variant with all the benefits (less smoke, cleaner running, a bit more mpg etc) but is more cost effective. At 10p a litre premium for V max on a 100 fill ups this costs £500 (50 litres a go). The equivalent Millers additive = £75 say. No brainer imo.

As said on the BG244 earlier, I may be overkilling (wasting money) because of the Millers, but that's the worse it can be and as an annual cost (I think from memory people who use BG244 regularly) tends to be just the once a year so hardly the end of the world.
