So having read 16 pages of the 102 in the Leon forum, I decided to actually join in myself!

I took ownership of my Leon FR in March, from Coupers in St Albans. They were very friendly and much better than Seat at New Southgate - substantially cheaper too!

Anyway, i've got a few issues for all of the 'experienced' members of the site!

1. Has Seat not issued a recall for those whose headlamps are suffering from condensation?

2. Can someone please tell me what 'ATA' stands for in the MFD Settings screen?

3. I have more than 350 numbers in my phone but not all of them have synced into the Bluetooth system in the car. Is there a limit to how many it can store?

4. When people call me, their numbers come up in the MFD however, not their names, despite the fact that they ARE stored in the system.

5. Does anyone have a copy of VAG.com which they could come round and use on my car - i'd like to have the 'Leaving Home' light setting put onto the car.

6. Is there a limit to the number of times I can use the Launch Control facility in the car - I have used it twice but I am aware that with the previous generation M3 you could only do it 5 times before it blocked the setting.

7. Is it worth switching to Xenons - I like how they look, but to retro fit I am told it can be a nightmare!

8. What MPG should I be expecting, bearing in mind that I do sometimes 'play' with the car?

Many thanks to all!

Max

Max,

Answers to your questions

5..... If your car is the FR it should have coming home and leaving home function, it is in the convenience settings

and a question!

6. How do you initiate the launch control, normally there is a limit with launch control systems so that you don't fry the clutch.

Leaving home only comes as standard with the Convience pack :)

7. Fairly expensive job, there are several options: Just change the light unit - circa 600 (headlight unit, ballasts, bulbs), but to make it fully legal, it would need self levelling and headlight washers, but the they are mega jobs to fit, possible though :)

8. Depends really, around town low 20's, motorway around 30.

Are your phone numbers on the SIM or the phone itself? There's been discussion previously about whether it's the phone or the SIM that gets read, and how this affects what the car can actually see. 350+ numbers sounds like the phone to me, and I bet the car is taking the SIM content instead.

To answer a few of your questions:

1. No and in all honesty I doubt they'll replace them for this let alone do a recall. Not had the issue on my SEAT but my Astra had it and Vauxhall refused to fix it.

7. Others think Xenons are great, in my opinion they look cool but that's about it. I wouldn't pay out a load of money to have the fitted. Not sure how bad the standard Halogen lamps are though, if they are even bad at all.

8. As Dan said around town low 20's, motorways around 30. I have had 34 mpg average out of the Cupra once doing 50/55 stuck in traffic for a 120 mile trip. Overall average about 24 mpg in my Cupra, would expect a tad more out of an FR but not a lot.

Thanks everyone!

Im glad to see that the MPG I am getting isn't rare. I am averaging about 18, but that is because I live in Central London so I spend most of the day making short journeys which of course doesnt help the figure!

I ordered some Osram Nightbreaker H7 bulbs (http://www.powerbulbs.com/product_detail.asp?prod=112) so hopefully they will provide similar brightness to Xenons. My car doesn't have xenons, but I am told these ones will fit without a problem. I like Xenons but only because they look cool and expensive!

I have no numbers on the sim card, they are all on the phone memory but not all have copied over. Any ideas?

Launch Control is done like this:
1. Turn off ESP
2. Put the DSG into S
3. Put your left foot hard on the brake
4. Put your right foot onto the accelerator and it will stick at about 2,700-3,000 revs.
5. Let go of the brake and you will discover the joy!

NB - make sure the road is very very dry before trying it or else you will wheelspin it. There is a pretty good video on Youtube about it showing a Japanese tv crew racing a Golf GTI vs a Leon FR with the DSG box and the Leon wins due to Launch Control.
