Hi guys i am currently in a dilemma I am after another diesel and the ibiza fits the bill nicely. But as i am 7 month through my insurance with my current car (fiesta) COUGH COUGH the ibiza 100 tdi is an extra £150 premium where as the ibiza sport tdi is £400 increase on my premium. Should I just hang on and wait till the 130 is cheaper or buy the 100 tdi.

cheers peter

I'd vote for the 130 too as you'll have a good amount of power, i'd wait myself and save some money on insurance.

However, you could remap the 100 to get the same HP as the 130 although if you want to get higher you won't get too much more out of it.

Depends if you want speed or not really

If your wanting an economical car then go for the PD100. If your wanting something a bit more faster, but not Cupra TDI fast, but still quit economical then buy the PD130/FR TDI.

If you wanting a PD130 with 5 doors and a bit cheaper then there is the Skoda Fabia (Mk1) vRS. I may be a bit biased as I have a Furby vRS. I get about 45-50 mpg average per tank full, sometimes in summer slightly more. We also have a PD100 Fabia and that gets 50-60 mpg or more. Driving both you can tell the 30 BHP difference, also the vRS has 1 more gear (6 instead of 5).

You can of course buy a PD100 and remap it to 130-140BHP.

thats great better then my 35-40 mpg i am currently getting, making me think a bit now.

I have considered a fabia vrs but only being 20 soon to be 21 next renewal they want my right arm and a piece of my left to insure it :censored:. I am considering like you said remap the pd100 have you remapped yours and if so what is it like from stock?

Having driven the pd100 it is a lot quicker than my 1.2 at stock, i've not driven many fast-er cars but it feels pretty nippy. After a year or 2 you'll want a remap or a PD130 though I think, I would anyway.

With you being so close to 21 I would consider the pd130, I can imagine the insurance would be cheaper when you turn 21. For me the pd130 isn't too much more expensive for me to insure compared to my 1.2 randomly. I'm 24 btw

I wouldn't say so but don't quote me, I know the PD130 maps a lot higher than the PD100.

Saying that I do know if you map a PD130 and use a PD160 intake, compared to a mapped PD160 there isn't a massive difference in power so that may be a similar engine or the same but like I say don't quote me

Cupra tdi has a different turbo and front mounted intercooler.

To answer the ops question, i would wait and get the pd130 engined car. In terms of insurance, mpg and performance, its a really good all rounder.

Plus when you get bored of 130bhp (More like 145 ) you can get it mapped to 180bhp.

I'm sure insurance for the PD130 and the vRS will be similar, I think they are in the same group. (Group 9). I pay about £400 per year for my vRS, but that's with full no claims (10y+) and am my 30s.

Our 1.9TDI Fabia is my mothers, so it's not mapped. I am temped to remap mine, I'll possibly buy a switchable map.

no, just dont drive flat out everywhere. plan ahead. i'm an hgv driver, so guess ive got a knack for planning ahead to prevent slowing down etc.

100 is averaging 70-80 for me.

I find that hard to believe! I've got a PD100 and I put my diesel usage over 6months into an mpg app and I only get a real-world 45mpg, and I do 100mi/day on the motorway each day (no A/B roads)

How much are you getting to a 45litre tank of diesel?

To answer the OP's question: Hold off for a PD130, I wish I had but my Sport Tdi came at a bargain price so would've been silly to pass up.

Hi, 40/45mpg is about right for my 100pd as well, 70/80 is mind blowing!

With regards to getting a 100pd and mapping to 130 when you inform your insurance and DVLC you might as well have bought the 130 to start with, as the insurance will be the same, or possibly more.
