Does it make a difference changing the injectors? Or is it just so you can remap around them?

Larger injectors will flow more fuel, when going for high boost you will exceed the maximum opening duration of the standard injectors.

tbh mate. Im doubtfull of what the internals on the pd100 will take mate. If it would take more then a hybrid turbo would be on the cards. Just worried about pushing it too much. Labour is £340+VAT and then a stage 2 remap on top.

But wouldn't that only make a difference if you got a remap?

Not exactly, the ECU fuels based on opening time not the amount of fuel delivered. If you fit larger injectors it will flow more fuel in the same time. The ECU will try to correct the over fuelling on a standard map though but it will probably struggle if the 130PD injectors flow 30% more than 100PD injectors so it's likely to throw an engine warning light and go into limp home mode without a remap.

Out of curiousity, if you are going to all this trouble to get more power out, why didn't you get a PD130 in the first place and re-map it?

I'm not saying don't do it, I'm just genuinely curious as it seems like an awful lot of work to get to the same place as a re-mapped 130.

well mate its not costing me that much really, the price diffrence in a pd100 and 130 is about £1k anyway and its not going to cost me that much more for a remap and the parts. But yes I got a pd100 thinking I would be happy with the power I now want more lol, so really its working out at £330+vat for labour and about £360 for the parts. Which aint to bad.

Exactly if you can source cheap parts and remap around them, your laughing :)

Also more of a project, I like where you are going with it!

The 1k difference however also coveres bigger brakes and better suspension...

I thought it would be along the lines of 'happy with it when new' but now wanting more. That's why I am thinking of a remap, but am still weighing it up against clutch issues, fuel economy, long term reliability etc.

I think I just can't be bothered tinkering with my car anymore (I used to do all that with my last car).
All in all I guess it's gonna be about a grand once you've factored in the parts and labour you mentioned, plus a remap, but that should get you up to 180bhp or so.
T. Spark, I'd be impressed if you managed to squeeze better brakes & suspension out of £1k as well!

You cant, thats my point! The 1k difference between a PD100 and PD130 to purchase 2nd hand wont cover ALL the upgrades to turn it into a PD130 spec. Same as the PD130-PD160 difference's

However if you want to go beyond just a remap for either the PD130 or PD160 the PD130 in the long term, depending how mental you go, will be cheaper.

AKA 260bhp+

I see! I misunderstood your wording.

I thought you meant the 1k difference will also give you the budget for better brakes and suspension, not that it won't. If you see what I mean.
