Had no response from the toledo section so thought I would post here

So what is the best all round modification to perform?

Remap wise, seen figures of 180 quoted but is this still driveable for my mrs

Green panel filter, best to go for?

Worth removing the cat and or middlebox? is a dpf fitted?

Anything else worth considering?

Cheers,
Mike

Well the Mrs doesn't have to drive with her foot to the floor....the performance is only there if you want it.

Pretty sure the 140s don't have DPFs - only the 170s (I'm sure someone will correct me if I'm wrong!).

Depends what you want - if you'd just be happy with some more poke, then stick with a remap.

Think also of suspension & brake upgrades, having a car that handles how you want and has brakes that give you confidence can make an enormous improvement (and make it safer & more capable of exploiting the extra power).

remap is easy - good 180 usually and you will notice it when you plant your foot but otherwise completely normal behaviour - possibly less snatchy pick up on a DSG anyway.

Well put it this way, the car wont be going round a race track :headhurt:

I was hoping for some useful comments, instead of questions about how much money have you, how much power do you want etc

Cars like these are not sports cars so dont pretend that they are, its a front wheel drive diesel ffs.......

Think I shall just have a remap, aircleaner and remove the cat :)

You asked, people replied.
Don't expect them to help again with remarks like that........

I believe a Pug has won La Mans at least once - a diesel going round a race track......

Unless you state how much money you are willing to spend on modifications or what power you want the car to run at how can people help you tune the car ? Where did anyone say about turning it into a race car etc ?

Anybody who knows how much money they want to spend on a car really must just be constrained by their budget at the said moment. With the current climate I would say tuning cars is not a priority therefore budget is low

Anyway with my nissan I have modified it over the last 7 years to end up at level 3b and spent upto 10k in doing so

So let me say I have £250 to spend, remap £215, panel filter £25 and removing cat £20, opps I'm over budget:blink:

What if I said I need to have 600 lbs/ft torque, what do I need to buy?

Hi mike s14

A remapped 140 will see gains of approx 35-40bhp and 39-49ft/lb torque, this will greatly improve the drivability of the vehicle without causing the Mrs too many issues

I would highly recomend going for a Green Cotton replacement panel filter, these are a direct swap for the standard one so you retain the standard look of the engine bay.

The 140 doesnt come with a DPF.Removal of the cat would aid in midrange to top end power holding, removing the middle box will give you more noise but wont really aid in power gains.

As for anything else to consider it is all down to personal preference of what you want to do to the vehicle

thanks for the useful comments :)

may buy some parts from autosport today but seats, harness, diff and front fully adjustable suspension are top of the list [B)]

you ok there, dont need a kick do you

Attitude problem?? As said above a remap on a 140bhp will see it sitting nicely around the 180-185bhp mark depending on the map. That's where I would start if I was you.

Oh and it's not a bad thing people asking what your budget is, it has an effect on what peoples responses are if they know what sort of money you have in mind to spend. Most people do have a limit if you don't already realise :)
