Just a few questions i am wanting to get my leon 180 upto stage two just wundering what i will be needing i have a carboni air filter kit thats apart from 007p d.v.

Obviously il be needing a front mount intercooler kit. Where is the best place to get these from for resonable price as i aint wanting to pay out for a forge one? They easy to install?

What exhaust system to go for and where to get it?

Hi mate - firstly I'd say spend 20mins searching the forums and reading the threads and peoples "riders ride" and you will get a lot of answers and feedback on products. However for a cupra 180 I believe you will need for a stage 2 alot of modifications:
Injectors - same ones as the cupra r has (no idea on £££)
TIP (turbo intake pipe) - forge or sfs etc.. £80ish for 180 engine
Silicone boost hoses - intercooler / throttle body / charge pipe - £200+
Dump valve (yellow spring for remapped cars) forge 007p - £70
Air filter - Jetex or other -£70
FMIC (front mounted intercooler) - try toyosports - £250
Down pipe, decat/sports cat and exhaust system - full system try cobra, scorpion or Miltek - £600-£1000
Remap - REVO or other (circa £400)
If getting close to 300lb torque best to change the rods - forged ones (£600)
Performance clutch - as it's sure to start slipping (£600)
Then handling for it:
Engine mounts - set or separate I.e bogbone (gearbox mount)
Strut brace - £40-£100 depending on what you get
ARB (anti roll bar) front n rear - £100-300 depending on what you get
Suspension - £300-£600
Brakes (as you don't have brembos as standard) - £250 - £400 for decent discs and pads

And a few bits more - cant remember everything and pricing is an estimate. What I said to my mate who owns a 180 who is looking to tune it - trade it in and buy a Cupra R 225 then tune it. He's changing his now in summer after driving mine on a custom stage 1 map - 280bhp 313lb torque and my mods are in my sig

you wont need as extreme price as cupra tim has listed but hes not far off.
you need
front mount as tm said toyosport on ebay for £230
turbo intake pipe range from £55-£90
4 bar fuel pressure regulator £40+
3" downpipe and sports cat or de-cat if your not worried about mot. toyosports do a downpipe and de-cat for £90 and a highflow backbox you can pick these up from £45 upto £250 depending what look sound and brand your after tbh.
you wont need injectors for a stage 2 re-map but you will for a stage 3.
a cold air induction or open cone with heat shield and a uprated dv

so basically with what you already have for around £500+ you can be stage 2 ready but then you need a few £££ for a remap this is doing it as cheap as possible. and dont worry about fitting cheaper parts like the intercooler and de-cat/downpipe as most members on here use the same. me included and i cant fault it. :D

i have thought about getting a cupra r a few times myself but my reason for not swapping is for the £2k price difference i can spend it on engine mods which will make it faster than a standard cupra 225 but looks like a normal cupra. i like to go for the sleeper look myself. and once you go so far with upgrades both engines can achieve the same peak power in the end. but thats my choice and opinion.

you only actually need a sports cat and downpipe to get stage 2 figures on an LC. Fmic will help you make the most of the power come the warmer months but isnt vital.

Mine made 242bhp with a custom map with just the better exhaust ... fmic, tip, induction wont give you much more if any.

Rear ARB is a hugely benifical mod on the LC, upgraded engine mounts will help put down the power. Decent pads like DS2500s will be more than required.
:)

Like I said - pricing is an estimate - mainly because I have a Cupra R so was going on my mods minus a bit of ££ lol
I put injectors - but I meant 4bar pressure regulator, my bad!

FMIC, TIP and induction won't give much performance true - but like I said will help it breate with is still essential to any modded car - plus looks good too!

But it's entirely up to you - you need to think about what you want to achieve and how much money you are willing to spend? But I will warn you that the more you mod the more you need to replace. Unfortunately for me (and a lot of people) I mapped my Cupra R and now the clutch is slipping and it's only on 60k! So just look into it as mine is about £300 for upgraded clutch ad flywheel (as you might as well do that whilst your there!) and then around £300 for labour. Then of course there is the infamous bending a rod - so I'm looking at replacing my rods to forged ones (as even though the LCR rods are bigger then LC they need upgrading)

i have noticed the lcr parts are a fair bit more expensive. dont know why just seems like you buy a better car then you pay more for it in all ways. as you say all the "breathing" mods wont do much but they do help a little but the fmic will help when running higher boost. without it you can only map the boost so much. i find that when it comes to upgrading and going for a custom remap every little helps.
also as you say be prepared to have to fork out for a new clucth if needs be.

i myself will be going down the forged internals route myself in the hunt for big power. :D

Forged internals :) the LCR has good enough pistons for big power just the rods that aren't :( so I'll get them replaced soon, and see what I can do to tweak it some more whilst the engine is apart! Port polish and a good clean!

I'm saving for a Sachs clutch and flywheel or a LUK clutch and flywheel not sure yet!

thats the problem once you have opened up the block. where do you stop lol my car is currently at 92k im gonna let it get to around 100k then ill do a complete rebuild with forged internals and uprate the cams and valves ect... i will be doing some hardcore saving as its gonna cost a few notes lol. i dont plan on getting rid of this car for a long time i love it. i was contemplation on a m3 evo but i just love the tuning potential from these little 1.8t engines. they are so tunable. also i like having control of the power through the front wheels as too much power in the rear can bite you in the a$$ lol

i only mentioned the mod list revo recommend for a stage 2. is yours a standard cupra 180 version? also exactly what upgrades do you have as 240bhp+ is very impressive.

Yep 01 LC. The main breathing restriction is the downpipe and stock cat. I think if memory serves it was upgraded to 2.75". That with a custom map was enough to hit 242bhp.
The next restriction is the turbo.
In terms of stage 2 thats it. It will heat soak if you get spirited especially over the summer so its worth getting the FMIC at some point. If the tips not in perfect condition its worth fitting a more durable and efficient one but it wont add much figures wise.

Its worth speaking to a few tuners and deciding whos going to map it for you and see what they say regarding a custom map mod requirements. The above was with jabbasport :)

so your 242bhp figure came from getting a custom map with the main modification being a less restrictive downpipe and de/cat or less restrictive 1. the rest of your upgrades probably making a total difference of 10bhp for example as i dont see many 1.8t leon 180 versions getting over 235bhp on a stage 2 so it must be down to your custom map. so your now running at 320bhp ;) may i ask what upgrades your running to get that figure? did you upgrade the rods? i only ask so many questions about you ride as it gives me lots of hope for the potential of these lovely engines.

You can use a £50 tip on the LC 180 i did and have no problems.
The standard one is very restrictive.

i have ust bought a new tip of ebay for £55 so not bad. mine is looking a bit tatty and it feels a bit squashy so i will imagine under boost it will collapse a bit and cause restriction.

its worth mentioning to everyone running a standard tip to have a feel of it because if it feels easy to squash then imagine the full boost of your turbo sucking that in. i was shocked when i checked mine.

i also replaced my oil breather pipe at the same time as this was also looking tatty and feeling squashy. a silicone on of these usually cost around £25+
its also a nice way of colourcoding the engine as you go along.
i have gone with blue silicone on a yellow car :)

the tip is just a direct swap without any modification needed?

Yeah straight swap best guide ever and the tip difference pic is in that thread :)
