1st Service - Dealer or Specialist?

My FR TDI is coming up to its first service due date, and I'm about to go looking for somewhere to get it done. I've asked the dealers how much it would be, and I've been told £250 all-in, which I think is a hell of a lot for a 1st service!!

I've read on here that VAG specialists do the same for a lot less... does anyone know of any specialists in the Solihull / Birmingham area ???? I begrudge giving the stealers any more of my money!!

Took my car to my local VAG tuner, was half the price to what the dealer quoted! Just make sure they use genuine parts and are VAT registed.

There are several sponsor forums on here of tuners. I take mine to bigboyztoys in West Thurrock

Midland vw, norton canes cannock,(roughly behind toll road services) major service £160, around half that for an intrim. Very good, family owned usuallly open till late, saturdays too [email protected]. look under service and repairs, then service price guide.
My local dealer is £180 first/10000 service in Stoke.

My first service is now due and got it booked in on the 26th. Seat Wolverhampton wanted £185.00 which i thought was a bit steap for an oil change( which is what a first service mainly is). Tried a vw dealer and was told £180.00. Rang the garage in Lichfield and was quoted £65.00 and they will pick up a first service pack from Seat. They only charge £25.00 +vat per hour labour, Not like Seat which worked out at £125+Vat COMPLETE RIP OFF if you ask me STEALERS

Taking mine to Barlows in Wolverhampton tomorrow for it's first, £135 I think they said, Definately no more.

You really ought to ring round SEAT dealers and get prices. My 1st service (oil change) was £95 at Letchworth Autoway. Can't believe some people are paying nearly double this for an oil change.
