2.0 16v VS 1.8 16v

hiya people. im goin 2 look at 2 ibiza's on sunday. 1 is a kiwi green 1.8 16v and the other is a 2.0 16v in red. i no the 2.0 is 150bhp. but what is the 1.8?? how similar/different is the performance, handling etc between the 2 models. any help much appreciated?? and any opinions welcome.

the 2.0 is a much nicer engine

the 1.8 is 135bhp (but still fast) but 2.0 is smoother

slightly better spec on a 2.0 too

1.8 16v is quite rare, tho. Didn't make it for long and I'm guessing it will be a pre-facelift whereas the 2.0 16v will be a facelift.

they started using the 2ltr 8v and 16v from after then.there are a few facelift ones though,rob T for one

The 1.8 16v will be a KR series engine from a mk2 golf if im not mistaken??

Very good engines (if it is) and easier to "tune" if on K-jet managment. All 16v engines from VW have been excellant to my knowledge

you,re right about the 1.8 beeing a mk 2 golf engine. dont have a clue what managment system it use's though i think mk 2's used heaps of diffrent ones

facelifts are the 97-99 ibiza's which have basically got slightly different bodypanels and bumpers, plus better levels of trim I do believe?

i undertand it to be 93-12/95, 96-99 (not 97)

I took the safe option of saying 97, because my 96 wasn't facelift

Then you're not quite right......97R is the full facelift, 96P was a transition period... with weird bumpers

well i got me gti 2day. ive broght the 2.0l. its a tidy motor. the 1.8 turned out 2 b a shed. i will post sum pics as soon as i pick her up.
