(I have read the rules and I hope I'm writing in the right place now! ;) )

I know this subject has been up before but I have read several threads with only dead ends...

So my problem is first that I have some white sticky mess under the oil cap... Met one mechanic who said "OMG this is serious man, maybe your head gasket has failed" so I hurried to SEAT were they said "No this is pretty normal, nothing to be afraid of..." is it so?

Second. When i start the engine much of the time it coughing for like 2-3 second and then starts, nothing else indicate that something is wrong but I hate the sound! And sometimes it has start coughing for like 10 seconds before it starts... Not so fun! It's worst when it's dewy outside and about +5 - -5 *c. I asked if the ignition coils had been changed and they had!
Does someone have a good idea what it can be or if this is normal?

(Sry for my bad english)

The first "problem" is due to short rides and condensation built up in the engine. Wipe the "mayo" off the cap and take it for a good run and it will disappear. This is more a feature than fault. :)

Second. I recognize the problem from my old FR, but mine always came when I where low on fule. Ones I filled her up it disappeared.

+1 on mine had it mainly in the cold winter we had. Yes, it can indicate a blown head gaskget, but can also be the engine not warming up fully.

Okey maybe I just leave it for now and when it breaks in thousand pieces I go and pay at the shop :p I want to do a lot with it by all seems to cost money.... -.-

Hello mate.
I have the similar features, so I think not to worry too much.
It kind of struggles when starting but always starts at first attempt. So the starting is a bit rough.
I also have a small amounts of "mayo" on the cap, but I also think thats due to water condensating.
Specially here in Finland where the temps at winter vary a lot so Don´t worry about that either.
If your head casket would be blown there would be a loss of engine coolant also and other symptoms.
i think every car I´ve had has got some "mayo" always at the cap at some point.

And I live in Sweden soo...... ;) I will see now if it gets any better in the summer when it's "warm" outside!
