2.0 TSi 190 removed from sale?

Just noticed on the SEAT website that it’s no longer possible to order a Leon with the 2.0 TSi engine - shame really as it’s a cracking unit, quick and economical. Quite happy I jumped in and got mine while they were still on sale.

Wonder what’s driven them to discontinue the engine after such a short period of time?

If the new, next generation Leon is still scheduled to be launched sometime in the next few months, Seat may be starting to run down production of the existing Leon. They may have sufficient supplies of the 2.0 190ps engine to fulfil existing orders, but probably aren’t planning on taking any new orders for models with this engine.

Are you sure they discontinuing them. For a while now cupra has supposed to be breaking away from seat as it’s own brand. So it’s still effectively a “seat” car but with the cupra badge which you can see looking at the cupra r.
Only cupra doesn’t have the car available to configure.
The new golf mk8 is around the corner too. Maybe since they copy the same engine being a vag group they are sorting it out in time.
I’m sure that 2.0 has being discontinued with that whole emissions thing. Never seen them again after then. But it was replacing the 1.8 they had. It’s a mean engine too with huge remap potential.
I’ve also noticed the 1.4 FRs have appreciated in the used market. But looking at the 1.5 I can see they are less powered for more. Kinda makes sense people will want them now.

Ok sounds good. I did have a look at the fr models last night. Didn’t see the 190 on there. But I’ll check the excellence. But in 2018 was the last time I seen one available to get.

There’s a couple available on Carwow - these are the ones with the new EA888 engine like mine.

The 2 litre tsi 190 wasn’t a popular engine. We sold maybe 2 retail units in the last 6 months, and 6 ST’s on motability as they were £0 deposit!

I've got one. And it's a beaut. I've also had it remapped from 190 bhp 320nm to 260 bhp 420nm. It was a quick release I struggled to get it but was a lucky chance.

It's nice because it's a regular looking leon fr, until people find out what it pumps out under the bonnet.

I'd recommend mate, even out factory they leave a lot of hot hatches puzzled, just a stage 1 ecu, gains were impressive, 200 quid

I had a Skoda Octavia VRS with manual 2.0 tsi with 197bhp. I missed the power initially as it pulled through the revs really well. After 6 years of ownership I changed to the Leon. It is quick but just lacks the torque.
Who did the remap for you ?

I've touched a similar mpg, I've done 50mpg on a 30 mile run doing the sane sort of a road speeds. Soon as you floor it though petrol gone, as you'd imagine,

I always found it strange that the same engine on Audi A3/A4/A5 shows combined mpg as 50.4, whereas on the smaller Leon (compared to A4/A5) it's listed as 46.5.
Likewise on Cupra (non 4 drive), it's 41.5/42.2, whereas on Audi S3, it's 43.5. I know they are just numbers that are unrealistic, but why the discrepancy?

The mk2 leon tfsi which is lighter than a mk5 golf gti, with the same engine,gearbox and gear ratios is listed as being slower than the GTI in both 0-60 and top speed.

Aren't the mpg test done by 'independent' testing...eg...not Audi or Seat? Also isn't the converse also true? Previous Audi S3, Golf R, are quoted as 300, and the Cupra was 280, but reality...the Cupra was a 300 when put on a dyno?
