I recently changed my air to water intercooler/inlet manifold and I was very surprised to see how clean my inlet ports/valves were after 150k miles!
I have seen images where leaking inlet manifolds have steam cleaned the right hand port and the other ports looking very sooty/oily.

My engine is a CUPA (euro 5) so has the blanked off egr port on the right hand side -

Anyone have any experience of this/comments?
Is this unusually clean? or normal for a Euro 5?
Are the Euro 6's worse for getting carbon build up?

Inlet to the intercooler. Couldn't get my camera to focus any better!
