I've searched and never really come up with some straight answers so I'm just going to ask! Myself and a friend both have 2004 Leon Cupra R's with BAM engines. His was totally standard until he got a stage 1 map, I then decided to get exactly the same map. After the mapping I felt it was a little quicker than it was previous.

All was fine till my mate drove it and said it was slow, I went out in his and it felt rapid compared with mine, night and day difference. Mine also has a forge diverter and a silicone tip. I've fitted a boost gauge to see what's going on and it seems to peak at 1.0 bar and drop to about 0.9 ish.

It's really annoying me as I want it to be like his. It's runs perfect and is smooth, can't work out what could be causing the power loss.

Any help will be appreciated

Mike

At 0.9bar boost that doesn't sound like its boosting right for a mapped car. I'm still on a standard map and run 0.9bar. Could be vacuum leaks, N75 issue or you've not got the same map.

If I was you I'd check the engine for any faults as it may help find the issue.

Get a code reader on it, as hyphon says probably boost leak or n75 or something.

Scanned the car no problems, totally standard car with no added weight. He even runs his on supermarket 95Ron and I put in V Power.

I've been through the engine changing worn pipes, checking pretty much everything.

His boosts really hard and puts you in the seat, mine is fairly quick but more progressive.

The real strange one is about 2 days after the map it was randomly really quick and boosted to 1.5bar but it's never done it again and now sits around the 0.9 to 1.

Sounds like 2 different maps to me . Different companies run different maps in regards to aggressive boost etc ......

To run fine then not would most likely be a leak somewhere . Doesn't take a lot to loose a lot of power which I'm finding now . Had a smoke test done on mine and it was like a watering can .

How did you do a smoke test? Think I need to try that!

As for the forge I had it in bits and pressure tested it about a week ago.

I am starting to wonder if it is a different map. Slightly annoying.

Local garage did it for me . £45 for the test . I do believe there is a guild on here on how to build a smoke test machine for the Lcr .
Who is the car mapped by ?
