I'm just posting to see if there are any known problems with the 2007 1.9tdi stylance. It has 97k on the clock which is a bit much for a 4 year old car.

Is there anything in particular I should be keeping an eye out for? Cheers

also if anyone would point me in the direction of the pros and cons of the 1.9tdi to the 2.0tdi?

I heard the 2.0 isn't the greatest engine?

To be honest I'd say the opposite about the 2.0, I'd far rather have the 2.0 than the 1.9. The 1.9 is an old engine and has been around years by comparison the 2.0 is a far newer engine and the 2.0 should be a more refined drive as the 1.9 can be a bit rough.

It is true that the 1.9 in it's highest tune has tended to be slightly more economical than the 2.0 but then the highest tune that the 1.9 was used in was 150bhp and the 2.0 is 170bhp so you'd expect that.

If it were my money I'd steer clear of the 1.9 but you pays your money and takes your choice. Try to test drive both.

The 2.0 tdi is probs better fun for driving fast but if your wanting a diesel 1.9tdi is the best for mpg. I have done over 70k miles in my seat leon 1.9tdi and it now has 115k on the clock never had a problem with it. would encourage you to get a remap for it my has been remapped it has 154bhp and is running awesomely. my mpg hasn't dropped one bit, the guy at revo said that diesels gain mpg on a remap if anything. hope this helps :)

If the car has had it's cambelt changed recently (water pump and pulleys too would be a bonus) then I'd say go for it.

If you just want to drive a car and not race it, stick with the 1.9

Me just bought a 05 plate 1.9 TDI PD Stylance and I have to say it is great to drive. top MPG. more than 600 miles in a tank.

2.0CR are super quiet compared with old PD lumps. Not sure where the OP got his info about the 2.0 not being very good! Can't have done that much research!
In all honesty if he's looking at a 97,000 mile car then he's wasting time even asking about a new CR engine!!!
I brought a CR engined car and have never looked back!
