Hi All,

Thought I would start a bit of a thread to keep track of my new cars up's and (hopefully very few in between) downs.

My previous car which I sold this weekend was a 2008 Mazda 6 2.5 Sport with all the bells and whistles which was a brilliant car and will be sorely missed but unfortunately it couldn't be justified on fuel economy with my new job being an 80 mile round commute everyday.

So diesel was on cards which I was reluctant to do as I do love a good petrol but not when I can get 2 miles out of a diesel for everyone 1 mile in a petrol on the motorway plus save a bit extra in the way of tax and insurance.

So wanting a new car the initial search was a simply looking on Autotrader for a diesel when I eventually stumbled across the Exeo; lovely car, Audi in Seat sheepskin without the price tag, good MPG and no longer produced so not very likely to be replaced with a new model (hate it when that happens). On to a winner here.

Looked into them a bit more and decided a Sport model was the way to go, unfortunately I couldn't stretch the budget to a Sport Tech but the amount of kit with the Sport is enough to keep me happy.

So I was lucky enough to find one up for sale by Leicester Seat, initially up for £8,495 which I couldn't justify, then it was reduced and up for £7,995 in which over the phone I couldn't get the deal right and then finally it was reduced to £7,495 a week later in which the deal was done. So a 2 and half hour trip on the train with my girlfriend on her 21st birthday and it was brought back to Manchester with me, lucky girl.

So first thing was to replace the grille as it was an indicator that I had the earlier model (not sure of any obvious others);

Along with that came a wash (not my best work as time is short at the mo) and a debadge of the EXEO on the boot;

A few things have been bought in the meantime to style it and also a few practical things as well;

-Decorative chrome trim to the front lower grille.
-Matt chrome trim to the bootlid (to minimise fingerprints)
-Chrome exhaust trim
-Tailored Rubber Mats
-Black Richbrook Exeo Tax Disc Holder
-Piano Black Seat Gear Knob
-Piano Black Seat Heandbrake Lever
-Heavy Duty Boot Liner (£85 from Seat, bought off ebay ex-demo for £25)
-Genuine Mudflaps
-Scuttle and Battery Covers as fitted to the B7 A4 after reading a horror story on here.
-Front bumper splitter (need to suss how it's fitted though as I'm stumped by that one)

Only thing on the wishlist so far is a set of RS4 Aluminium Pedals incl dead pedal but at £99 delivered it's a bit steep at the moment. Also looking into remaps but could only be justified if it improved the economy so there is still research in progress into that one.

And I think that's me about done for now. Comments/feedback always welcome and I'll update with any news accordingly :)

Thanks for reading,
CPS

A lot of car for the money!

Do you have any photos with the other accessories fitted yet?

Thanks mjstokes, this one should look even better once I'm done.

Not wrong there damo and I really can't get over the quality that follows it. I know it sounds bizarre but that clunk of the doors when you shut them shows the quality for me.

Pics I haven't got any at the moment and there's very few of what I have ordered which is fitted at the moment as fair bit of it was ordered from the stealers so was coming in from Spain as there generally isn't any stock over here. Got the decorative chrome on the lower grille which sets it off nicely with the black, I'll get a pic of that. Then the only other things I've got fitted at the moment are the tailored mats and boot liner which were fundamental for me working as a Quantity Surveyor on site you can just chuck your boots in the back and not worry about the carpet.

Does anyone recommend anything for polishing up the chrome around the windows, they have white marks on them which comes off with a bit of a rub from a finger nail but wondering if there is anything more effective? Got some Meguiars metal polish but (granted only a quick go in the car park) it didn't seem to lift much of it.

Thanks,
CPS

Cheers

Check no.5 on the below list of mods and it links to another thread about how water got into contact with electrical items in the scuttle area and buggered up his car.

http://www.seatcupra.net/forums/showthread.php?t=312170

I got items 1 and 2 and another in the far corner and it came to £40 from Audi but items 1 and 2 weren't far off that what's quoted on the thread. Money well spent in my eyes.

Love the grille man! Subtile
Thanks mate, really glad I went for it.

looking good mate
Cheers Lumby, hopefully can only get better.

MPG is looking good considering I still have a twitchy foot with it being a new and all haha. Averaging 49MPG at present, which certainly goes a lot further than my 27MPG from the Mazda.

Thanks for the kind comments once again everyone,

Will do mate. But give me a nudge when you do change your alloys, may get me in a spontaneous mood haha.

Quick pic of the lower grille trim everyone;

Doesn't really do it justice, especially in an underground carpark on a phone camera but there we go :)

Looks alright with the chrome trim. If it wasn't so much work I would paint all the chrome trim black :) stealthy lol

Would look better with a deep shine on it. Just need to find time get a proper detailing session on it.

Hopefully not too long away!

Spoke to the place supplying the rest of the car accessories today and they are still waiting on the boot trim to come in.....would of been nice of them to tell me since it was mean't to be in on Monday to send out. There sending the rest out which should be with me by Tuesday.

My mudflaps have arrived though which I maybe able to fit on Sunday. If I do I shall let you know how it goes :)

Cheers,
Chris

Put the mudflaps up against it and they look very well I think to what they can look like, hoping to get them fitted tomorrow (got dragged to Chester today).

In other news I was nicely surprised today when my accessories turned up today despite having my hopes set to them arriving Tuesday. Got to say the piano black gearknob and handbrake lever look brilliant and goes perfectly with the gloss black trim around the dash. And the trim to exhaust is a lot more substantial than I expected, it's really heavily! Looks a pain to fit though, luckily I've chose the option to fit it for £18, which as far as I'm concerned is money well spent there.

On a note towards the trim on the lower front grille it's actually starting to peel off which is somewhat annoying for £40, I'm half expecting it to be gone one day but I plan to try and reattach it with super glue first, the stick pads don't seem up to the job in my opinion.

Hopefully tomorrow the plan is; fully reattach the lower front grille trim, give it a quick wash, fit the gearknob, fit the handbrake lever, fit the bag hooks (arrived during the week), fit mudflaps and fit my richbrook tax disc holder.

Only things to fit then are the exhaust trim and the boot trim when it eventually arrives.

Happy days :) Looking forward to tomorrow.

Thanks for reading.
