2010 Cupra R problem with audio- random interruptions of playback with AUX

Hello,

I'm wondering if anyone knows this issue - in my very new Leon Cupra R (2010) while listening radio/cd/usb_mp3 the music gets randomly interrupted and the "AUX" shows on the radio display for couple of seconds, then turns back to whatever source of media I was using and continues playing.

This is very annoying and I really have no idea why it does that. I have noticed the interruptions are more often when I have a cell phone (Nokia N95) connected to bluetooth hands-free (even fully charged - so no interruptions because of "battery low" signal from the cell phone), but it also happens when no phone is connected at all.

I don't have the SEAT navigation installed, just the factory 8 speaker radio with USB port.

Any ideas please?
The car is just perfect and this completely ruins the joy of driving it.. :/

Cheers,

Martin

I don't know whether this will help, but I used to get a similar thing when I used my MP3 player and my phone was nearby. The 'di-di-di-dit' that you can sometimes hear when a cell phone re-registers used to be enough to switch my MP3 player off. I don't precisely know what happens when the cell phone does that sound, but it's obviously interpreted as something by my MP3 player. I wonder if your head unit is also having an adverse reaction to it?

I ended up having to carry my phone in the boot just to keep my MP3 player running.

I know what you mean, but I don't get this 'di-di-di-dit' sound - just a random short interruption of playback (source of audio in the car changes to AUX for a short while, even though nothing is connected there) and I'm still not convinced it's caused by the phone, althought it happens a lot more when the phone is connected to the car audiosystem.

Just to make things little more clear - I don't use "an earplug" handsfree, but a built-in bluetooth to car's audiosystem - no customs, everything original SEAT straight from factory.

I will still try to put the phone in the trunk next time to see what happens.. every advice counts, thanks!

To be honest it sounds like a headunit fault to me.

Be worth asking the dealer to look at it and maybe code out the aux socket to see if it stops, rules out everything bar the headunit itself.

Can't help with the issue but you got any pics of the car??? [B)]

It won't let me post URLs to other sites until I make 15 posts or more, so here's the "hxxp" link (you know what to do..):

..of course that would be the last resort - first I'm trying to figure it out myself..

solution

I would have never guessed Slimy's advice would be the solution, but after couple of weeks of testing it seems it really is :) The proximity of the cell phone to my head unit is the key - if it's far enough I get no interruptions of playback.

It seems it's sufficient if I put the cell phone to my other pocket (far side from the head unit) or into the armrest (cupholder beneath the head unit is the worst place).

Slimy - thanks for great hint! :)

It's great that you got it sorted out! Nice car, I should be having my "R" in 2 weeks: It's also furia grey, but with white wheels. I got audi S5 replica wheels for winter tyres :funk:

I wasn't able to decide the color, so the neutral furia grey have won :) Surprisingly it goes very well with the car's personality :D Especially with those black wheels (BTW - mine came with silver 19" Potenzas and summer Bridgestone tires [I was looking forward to Pirelli Zero Neros fitted in promotional pictures] - no options to choose from for the wheels in my country, but for the winter I bought 18" "Old Orions". I like the "New Orions" design better, but there was a 2 week delay for delivery for the "new" ones and I just needed to take my newborn baby for a spin as soon as possible :D)

Greetings from CZ and congrats for brand new "R" :)

Guess the only thing you are doing now is driving around :-D The colour is .. how to say that ... it isn´t my cup of tea but it goes well with black rims.

I´m shocked while comparing the price list here in Czech rep (R starts at 29500 E) with what you can get in Slovakai - Cupra R costs 23000 Euro and furthermore you can get a discount aswell :) And the taxes (VAT) are the same. This is insane ..

PS. You should think about lowering springs ;-P
