Hi all
My girlfriend has a Seat Ibiza MK5 2011 plate, 1.6 CR diesel. She has no end of problems with this car and Seat are not being that helpful.
When she first got it a few months ago the car would not start, took it to the garage who said the alternator was faulty and needed to be replaced this got done and worked again for a week or so, then the battery failed so this was replaced by the RAC. The car was having troubles starting when had been left for a few days, this got worse and car would not start at all. RAC read fault codes and said fuel injector 2 was the issue, we had this replaced with a second hand injector from another IBIZA that had only done 20k miles. This worked fine for a couple of weeks and then same issue came back.
We took the car to the local garage who said the same injector had failed and needed to be replaced, they recommended an OEM part. We were very skeptical as could not believe that it would fail after such a short period of time. The garage assured us that this was definitely the problem. Once the injector had been replaced the car ran but was not producing much power and was running very sluggish. The garage said they did not know what the problem was as the injector they replaced was working and no fault codes were coming up. They wanted more money to diagnose the fault.
At this point we decided to take it to a Seat dealer as we thought they may have a better idea on what was going on. The Seat dealer came back after a lot of communication for Seat direct that they agreed there was a problem but could not diagnose what it was and said was strange as no fault codes were being given. They then said they could only assume that it was the OEM injector as the problem was not there before and they would not help further as it was not a genuine Seat part being used.....
We then took it back to the original garage and got them to test the injector they had put in, they said there is nothing wrong with the injector they put in but tested all the other injectors and found that injector 1 and 4 are not functioning correctly and would need to be replaced.
We are not sure what to do now, should we have these replaced as well at great expense? is there something else happening to cause the injectors to go faulty? maybe an electrical fault? are we going to keep shelling out money on this car just for more things to go wrong?
It is a fairly new car with only 30k miles on the clock I am shocked that these things are going wrong this quickly have had plenty of diesels over the years my current focus has 110k miles on the clock and never had an injector replaced.
Sorry for the long winded post, I would greatly appreciate any help that anyone can give to us.
Regards
Darren
