Unless they designed an RNS-510 specifically for the Ibiza, but that was never gonna happen.

True. They mentioned in the press release they were going to offer the Media System from the Mii, wonder if that will be retrofitable. I'm desperate for an upgrade but really don't want to go aftermarket.
I reckon the Media System from the Wii will use the same dock as the TomTom sat nav prep that some cars have.
So if you have the sat nav prep then you're probably half way to retrofitting the Media System, but it might also require a head unit upgrade as well. I guess time will tell

With regards to the interior shots....
Don't like the dash instrument surround, don't like the new vents in the Climate Control Unit. The only thing I think is an improvement is the new glovebox lid!!! Wonder if it will retrofit......
I think the interior is a bit of a disapointment, to be honest... Seat could have done so much better without spending a fortune.
As far as the outside goes, I'm stil not impresed - well apart rom the LED tail lights. Would be good if they fit the current model, though opinion seems devided on this.

The Eco-nification of the SEAT brand continues. Very disappointed that the FR is now becoming a trim level rather than being recognised for it's power.
Actually I think it's a good thing.
One of the reasons I bought my old Ibiza Cupra & my vRS wasn't for the power, it was for the kit / looks & interior trim (I like black roof linings)
SEAT have twigged that most people want a nice looking car, with decent kit with a nice interior. They're less fussed about the engine, and way more interested in the fuel consumption.
I understand your point of view, but why not just give punters a nice looking car with most of the looks of the FR, but stick a Sport badge on it instead? That way the "warm hatch" brand is kept for the FR model? In this way the Sport model will be identified as the eco-sport model of choice.
Making FR a trim level rather than a separate trim/engine configuration removes the exclusivity from it.
When people see an Ibiza cupra/boc they expect a quick car. When they see an FR they will probably think "meh probz just the 1.2" exact same has happened to the Leon.

If SEAT twigged this then they would have left the Sportrider in as a spec level and offered SE/Sport level engines with an FR bodykit as they did with the Mk4 and to be honest it'd be interesting to know just how much influence SEAT actually have with this.
I've feared for a while that VAG were going to push SEAT as an Eco brand rather than the sporty brand we've come to know and love.
The FR in my mind will always be for those who couldn't quite afford to buy or run a Cupra but got a great combination as far as performance vs economy went... now it's just about having fog lights and a sporty looking car.
Would VW put the GTI badge on a 1.6 TDi or a 1.4 TSi Golf? Nope. So why would SEAT put the FR (SEAT's GTi equivalent) on lesser models? Maybe it's just me as I'm an ex-Leon FR owner, it was always good seeing other FRs and recognising each other rather than like what NathWraith said and seeing an FR and thinking 'probs just the 1.2'

It might not be a like for like match, especially as at lest as the Leons have been previously, the Cupra comes out with more power than a GTI for example - which makes it sit nearer FR territory. My point is the R is the top of the tree traditionally not the Cupra.
This tends to happen with the facelift / second half part of the cars lives. SEAT always do things to spread the appeal. Yes it softens the badges in the eyes of the true enthusiasts, but makes it more appealing to the wider public who will spend more money on mass which is what SEAT want to do overall of course.

I like the look of the new xenons, and I really like the speed surround. Hopefully this can be transferred into the older shape instead of the tunnels that seem to.block out all light lol.
As far as the R classes go yes they are equal but I can't agree with the Cupra/GTi comparison as the Cupra sits between the R and GTi/FR.
The GTi and the FR shared the same 211PS TSi engine and the GTD and TDi FR also shared the same 170PS TDi engine up until SEAT introduced the FR+ so that they could get away slapping FR body kits on cars with lower spec.
VW wouldn't introduce a GTi+ and start putting the GTi badge on 140PS engines. I can see what SEAT are doing by offering the FR as a trim level but at the same time I don't agree with it, the FR should always have an element of performance about it.

Not quite - they dont offer the CUPRA 2.0CR TDi 170 or thats where I would have gone - so I went for the ONLY option with a 2.0CR TDi which happened to be the FR.
Such a pitty they never offered the FR and CUPRA in petrol and diesel like the mk4
Almost exactly what I was about to say. Would definitely have gone for a Cupra TDI if they were available at the time I was looking for a new car.

Having the cupra as a petrol keeps it a pure drivers car, rather than focussed on MPGz and economy. Which dilutes the overall driving experience.
The only difference I can see on the AC is slightly larger grille bits either side or am I being thick!! OK I see the slight difference round the speedo now... quite subtle though.

EDIT ah I see what you mean about the AC now, there's no "step" there like there is on mine, on mine it looks a bit like an addition into a blank radio tray or something like that... can't say it looks wildly different though.
The only thing that annoys me about the current climate control setup is that the front and rear demister controls are so far apart. Infact the rear window demister switch is in a terrible location.
They should both be on the climate control panel like they are in the Leon.
