Hi Domagoj - I received my 1.4TSI 150 FR 6 weeks ago (Winter, Seat Sound, Technic Grey, 18") and overall am very pleased.
Plus points
- Looks great, very please with the colour, lights and Wheels. Also, there's is no aerial on the car which makes me smile inside every time I see another "family hatch" with a huge ugly aerial or the common as muck shark fins (simply things!!)
- Interiors are very subjective but personally I really like it - no unnecessary buttons/chrome/lighting (like older versions of A3). If you like it you'd call it restrained, if you don't you'd call it boring. All very comfortable and user friendly, seats are great both front and back. USB port is perfectly placed for charging phone on the go (the car even reminds you to take phone with you turn off the engine).
- Has all the gadgets you could need. Slightly regretting not getting the convenience pack for auto headlights and wipers but I'm not losing sleep over it. Media unit is great for the most part (see below) as is the dash cpu and steering wheel - all very intuitive.
- Great to drive, always feels planted on the road. I don't tend to use the sport set up on steering as it's a little heavy around the streets, though i suspect it will come into it's own on open roads. FR Suspension is fine, firm through corners but I've not had any issues with speed bumps/rough surfaces.
- Fast...enough. It's a little sluggish in low revs, though I suppose that is to be expected with the little engine. It's the turbo that provides the grunt and once you at 2000 revs, you know about it. 6th gear is possibly my favorite thing on the car. It just keeps plowing on and on without you really any extra engine noise and your at 9..ahem..70 in no time. I have a heavy foot some am not sure about the economy - I can't say I'm hugely impressed (average is currently stuck at 30mpg) but then I've never kept a note of MPG in old cars and it is not something I'm really concerned about.
Negatives
- Bluetooth Audio sometimes gets itself mixed up and displays my audiobooks/radio app rather than Spotify. When it works, its great but it can be annoying when it doesn't and there doesn't seem to be a way to reset and start from scratch.
N.B. Phone connectivity works fine as do the voice commands - it's no Siri but very impressed it understood my Geordie accent from the off.
- As I say, a little sluggish at low revs so you have to give it some to get "off the line".
- I like the engine cut off mode but occasionally (I've not worked out under what conditions) it engages the hill break setting (I'm not on a hill btw) - I've stalled a few times because of this but I'm getting used to it.
- Wind/road noise is a little worse than expected. It's not overly intrusive and I probably had very high expectations as I was coming from driving old wrecks. The 18" wheels won't
help and I think the wing mirrors (which look great btw) create a little more noise than most. Luckily, the Seat sound system is brilliant and more than compensates for this - the sub is epic (I'm no chav but the bass it gives is very impressive).
Overall, I'd thoroughly recommend the car. If your not somebody who gets
badge envy then I really don't think there is a better value all round hatchback out there. Don't get me wrong, if I had the money I'd have got the Cupra and if I had more I'd have gone for an RS3 (Current Golfs just look boring). But I don't and instead am very pleased with my FR
