2024 Cupra Leon Estate 333 PS

Hi folks, hope all is well.

I know the newer shape Leon estates come with a can of gunk and a pump, but can you still fit a space saver under the boot floor?

Reason, my beloved 73 plate 310 that I got last year was written off earlier this week. I was stationary in the car park and some numpty in Kia Sportage slipped off the brake onto the gas and literally hit a parked golf and then monster trucked over the top of my car, crushing most of the driver side, whilst I was in it.

Insurance is sorted and gap is paying out but I'm looking for a new car.

I have the spare wheel out of my old car and wondered if it will still fit in the boot under the mat. I forgot to look at this when I viewed a 74 plate earlier.

Not sure about the spare wheel, but the incident sounds terrifying! At least you walked away and good luck replacing your car.

Sorry to hear, but at least you're okay.

Cars can be replaced. I presume the Golf was a bigger mess than your Leon.

Is the 74 plate you looked at the same bodyshell / model year as your crunched one? If so, chances are there'll be a well for the spare wheel.

Best to ask the dealer if you're able, to be sure.

Yes,

I looked at one yesterday and put a deposit down on it.

Its a 74 plate, one owner (Cupra) with 2,330 miles with same VZ2 spec and Pano roof. So same spec and colour as my old 73 plate. Interior looks nicer and there are some subtle updates which will be nice (like a phone charger). Forgot to lift the boot floor and check though, had a lot on my mind and I have been a bit cloudy and forgetful over the last week if I am honest.

I watched some Youtube videos yesterday and it appears there is still a well for the spare, so that is fine.

I can confirm the under floor well is perfectly large enough for the space saver , however if you have sennheiser, the sub is in there secured by the same plastic centre locknut and I dont immediately know ( until I get the space saver) 2 things... the first is the most important and that is whether the space saver fits over the brake calipers ( big brake kit on vz3) so that would mean, if you are unlucky enough to get a front puncture, you would first have to put the space saver on one of the rear wheels and then transfer the full size rear to the front - I have had to do this with a previous VAG car. second issuer is whether the sub will fit inside the space saver and the two can be secured down with the threaded plastic screw in the middle - I will know the answer to this when I obtain the space saver kit - I would also point out that there is no jack or wheel nut brace in the vz3 - just a pump, locking wheel nut socket and emergency mousse. I hope to get a jack , space saver and wheel brace very soon as I hate driving around without a spare wheel - it is a silly omission.

I have the car now and have put the spare in there and the pump and gunk sits on top. I have a jack and such also, so it has all worked out in the end. Mine is a VZ2 so no sub etc.

out of interest what width and profile is your spare? when I look at the depth of the well it seems deeper than the average space saver, but not as deep as a full size wheel by a long way - so was always intended for the space saver - which is doubly annoying that the car doesn't come with one. ho hum

Same colour and VZ2 spec with pano roof.

this was the spare that came as standard with the previous VZ2 310 bhp estate I had.

thanks for posting space saver pic, I am thinking 125/70R18 = 24.9" diameter and 4.9" width and therefore a close enough match for the 235/35/R19 OEM tyres which equates to 25.5" (9.3 " width) although 135/70R18 would be much closer at 25.4" I am going to see some folks in Manchester about a custom spare as I also want to check the spare wheel will actually clear the brake calipers ok, as well as fitting in the spare wheel well - more soon

No idea. It's the wheel that was from the previous 310 estate I had. I just assumed it would fit this car also, unless the disks are significantly larger (again no idea).
