Go to a small independant, or Skoda garage, so long as they use Seat parts and are vat registered the warranty will be fine.

A good independent is well worth finding and building a relationship with (in a non-sexual way, preferably)
It still amases me that (how many years has it been) people still think they have to take their car to the dealers to protect their warranty. Its completely scandalous.
I'm in north east and had my 20k service done in march on 05 lcr with brake fluid change and fully synthetic oil used for £130. Ex audi mech in thornaby by the name of phil who started out on his own.

I would think so, its a legitimate business. Would have to double check the invoice but pretty sure he is.
I don't *think* i have to use a dealer, it's just i'm probbably gonna sell it in a year and am thinking about resale.
If I was keeping if forever, sure..indy all the way. But for the sake of a hundred quid - is it worth the risk?

I had mine done last year when they had a £60 service deal on. I rang them to ask if they would be repeating it!! Guess what the answer was!
I'm in a similar situation, I asked my dealer about a 28k non brake fluid service and got quoted £215. Compare that to the £161 from an indy who I have been using for many many years. The car is still under warranty till sep'07 but according to the OFT (Office Of Fair Trading) as long as genuine parts are used, the warranty will not be affected.
My local VW dealer does services for £99 on any VAG car over 3 years old - so next year...

I paid £230 (20k service + brake fluid) at Swindon in Feb. Not too far from you, may be worth a try. Quoted slightly more @ Chippenham...
It's always going to be painful going to dealer but depends if Seat stamp in service schedule is important to you (and buyer) if you decide to sell on.

What about the engine warranty?
I too am about to get my first service for my Leon TDI FR+ since owned and was quoted £225
from SEAT Stockport for a small service! Volkswagen in Hyde quoted me £95 for the same service including all the stated inspection checks and, after asking them, agreed regarding warranty being OK with genuine parts but then stated that if the worst happened and my engine blew up the warranty wouldn't cover it as it wasn't serviced at a SEAT dealership - Is this accurate?

Thats crap!
An EU directive changed the way warranties worked so now as long as the garage is in question is VAT registered and uses genuine OE parts then warranty is upheld.

Service history is service history isn't it?
If you had a car with 50k on the clock with zero history, then yes, a dealer or buyer would try to knock a few hundred off the value. But if you have a fully stamped book with receipts, doesn't matter whether it's a VAG specialist, independent garage or Seat dealer, it won't have an affect on resale value.
One of the lads at work didn't have a single stamp in his book for his 3 year old Golf 1.6 as he refused to pay over £200 for an oil & filter change, but he kept all his receipts from the VW dealer where he got his service parts from. When he part ex'd the Golf, he still got top book for it.
Had my 20k service done at JP Board Seat Specialist (Ex. Seat Dealer) in Bridgend last month...
Breakdown of the invoice:
Oil Filter: £4.35
Washer & Plug: £0.95
Consumables: £2.50
Pollen Filter: £7.10
Fully Synthetic Oil: £32.25
1.6 Hour Labour: £67.04
VAT: £19.98
Total Paid: £134.17
This included VAG COM diagnostics checks as well.
