Mine has been a pain in the bum, so many differences to Ben's (Roly's) car and mine and they are only a year and a bit apart!

Good luck with it all though, hopefully mine should be back on the road within the next few days!

Sweet! Need to start doing bits to mine next.

Drove mine up the road and it feels much faster that the 16v lump that was in it! It's all good fun, I don't really know much about cars but Ben's the man with the knowledge, anything you get stuck on i'm sure he can help you out.

ok i'm sure i'll be asking lots of questions on here especially about the pipe work etc as i didn't remove the engine, i have wiring diagrams for my engine and the 20v lump, and will be getting the ones to run the omex when i get that, so hopefully i can get most of the loom done over the next few weeks as i only have weekends to play with the car. hope your car gets finished soon

sound's like a fun project roly. the 1 thing i notice about the golf engine is that the inlet is on the other side to a seat inlet is there any reason for this?
cheers

the 180 bhp leons use the same setup as yours (factory intercooler in o/s/f wing)

ibiza mk3 and leon cupra R use opposite mani's, intercoolers in n/s/f wing on ibiza and twin side mounts on lcr

apart from the ic positioning i don't think there's any other reason

it helps to have the TB on the opposite side so its easier to route the pipework for a single pass cooler

pipework may be a pain for you on the opposite side

great little project though!
where did you get the manifold to fit a GT28? also what direction is the exhaust outlet on the turbo? no clearance problems is there?

im not sure what side the intercooler pipework runs on the 180 lump but if it all runs down the o/s of the car it may be worth looking into the opposite side mani

that way you can plumb straight into either side of the fmic (if your using one with an outlet either side) and then loose a bit of pipework in the process

yes on those engines from Golfs an leons, the intercooler is on the drivers side, and its quite big too (in comparison to the ibiza's smic) though obviously thats not an issue as you dont plan to use it

because of this issue most fmic kits for golfs and leon cupra's tend to be twin pass or same side inlet outlets with a vertical core.

have taken the loom off the engine now will try and post a picture later of it, have got to identify all the wires now so that its an easy swap when the omex comes this week sometime.
I will keep you all posted

are you using the Big turbo straight off?

You'll have to get into the fabrication to get it to clear the brake servo
