20vt 6 speed gear ratio

anyone knows what the gear ratios on the M6 box?

assume yours is a Mk1, so old shape, only as 2005
tranny code: thought that was findable on the vin plate

Sadly the chassis/Vin only tells us it's a Seat vehicle and what factory its made in along with its unique ID number.

there is sometimes a spec sticker in the boot that will list the engine/gear/colour codes

old shape model looks like below but if you can tell me what model car it is Cupra/Sport/Cupra R or just the BHP I could get somewhere close

ok so my car model is 2005. it is the mk1.
in israel its knowen as leon fr in this year model
my engine model is ouq with 180 bhp

From the year and model it appears to be an FZQ transmission although the casing should be stamped if you get chance to confirm it

Rev - 1.64
1st - 3.36
2nd - 2.09
3rd - 1.47
4th - 1.15
5th - 1.25
6th - 0.98

diff ratio on 1st pinion set (1-4) 3.94
diff ratio on 2nd pinion set (5-6) 3.08
(i think thats the right way round)

if it's a different code let me know as it's an israel car and may be imported with diff specs etc etc

-04 LCR 225BAM... have no idea about the code... I know I have a 3rd gear grind when cold so I need as much info about that box as humanly possible.

been told by a gearbox reconner that when they start to get nasty to change gear the rear pinion bearings need changing at about £3/400 but if they have already started leaking then it's a full overhaul

not had pleasure yet thankfully

Mine still changes gear smuuth but when cold it makes a grinding noise in 3rd when off power. One box specialist say its a bearing and it needs a complete refurb were another vw mech say just drive it until it brakes. Sooooooo......

that sounds similar to mine does in 6th - vibrates when you let off the power.....may be a little worried about this now! haha
