They can say its got 360bhp as without any detailed info its pointless. Their website needs updating.

I believe this is my car. The website indeed is not up to date because it is being constructed now. A few upgraded parts are missing from the list i.e. forged engine, different turbo etc.

In all fairness i doubt we will let people know what we have done this time, its very easy for people to judge from the sofa about what is possible or not when i am spending **** loads of cash on the car.

I'm sat on a office chair :cartman: would love to see it in action though :p

I believe there is a video in his readers ride thread. I know he posted one here before, they were very good. gr_dude, relax mate and take every ones comments so personally. they have not all been following your build and the site does not mention whos car it is.

ummm actually its my car!

Why not just swap out the 1.4TSI for an Edition30/S3 2.0TFSI engine and 6speed DSG?

Cheaper than a forged build and sh!tloads more headroom to go to well over 300bhp[B)]

We were discussing this in another thread and the general concesus is while it can be done the electrical work will be the most costly bit ensuring all functions still operate as standard in the car. I think the cost was around the 10K mark iirc.

If GrDuDe is having his limiter cut in on the DSG with only265lbft thrn a tfsi would be no good after stage 1 and that would be k03. K04 would be a non starter i think

........

Just noticed you said dsg6

That is not possible for many reasons, the major being that due to legislation if a model of a car does not come out in our case as 2.0l from factory, you are not allowed to register the new engine and make it road legal. So they could potentially confiscate my car if they caught me.

Wow, they don't muck about there do they mate? I must admit that is the first I have ever heard of it bnot being allowed to swap out engines for modification purposes. Can you not just register the car as a rebuild once that's been done?

I'm guessing you're not in the uk then? I know we sometimes have to work around some ridiculous rules, but that particular one seems very unfair.

Here in banana republic(Greece) nothing makes sense. the grounds of the argument is that this car was not designed to hold a 2.0 engine and hence it is not safe to do the engine swap.
If there was a 2.0l tfsi ibiza you are allowed to do it.

The FR TDi has a 2.0 engine fitted so the Ibiza is designed to have a 2.0 engine in the chassis.

It is a TDi and not a Tfsi. And now that Tdi was mentioned i am not sure if this model is being sold here in Greece, because you are not allowed to drive a diesel car if you live in a city.

Just checked on Seat website they only do 1.2 and 1.6 diesel engines and can only be used outside a town/city.

Seriously? Wow!!

As for engines, what we have in the UK is 'type approval', which is a series of tests to say whether a car is roadworthy. There is one that is designed for low volume cars or individuals to make a car from scratch, for example kit cars. If you did want to go down the engine swap route, is there anything like this type approval in Greece?

not sure if you can use the new S1 as reference since it comes with a 2.0t 220hp (4wd)

in germany we also got 'type approval' i had to do it on my golf mk2 with the VR6 engine swap and a friend with his 1.8 16v gt28 swap . pretty expensive tho
