Today i found a volkswagen 3 button flip key whilst shopping with the mrs, WHAT A FIND!!!!:D
My question is i have a 54 plate leon 225 that uses a 2 button flip key. Can this 3 button flip key be programmed to my car?? i think it can but the boot unlock button wont work?? or will it??

Maybe this has been talked about before and i should of searched a bit better:(
appologies if it has

Yes you can use it, no it won't open the boot.

I'd have gone round the car park looking for the motor to go with it :D *J/K
No multistory or carpark about?, shopping center security?. I'd be gutted if I lost one

Yeah i would of bin too. It was at my local shopping centre just at the entrance. I would of had no chance of finding the owner the place was packed!! couldn't help but feel sorry for the poor bugger after a hard days shopping to find that they lost there key[:@]. luckily it was just the key and not there house keys.

I always keep my keys seperate for that very reason. Lad in work went to a gig once an lost his fiesta keys, alarm fob and house/work keys and it must of cost him over £200 to get them all replaced :cartman:

and you didn't hand it in to the shopping centre??!

I don't believe that till I see it with my own eyes. Loads of people have coded a 3 button one to their car and never reported it. First thing I thought they would have done is held the button down. I know I would have done and tried. Didn't think the MK1's ECU would have this included in the code in order to allow boot only access via remote. Only by key when it is manually opened..
I'd still want somone to confirm before everyone rushes out to get a 3 button flippy :D

should have handed it in, what if that was you and you had travelled 100 miles with the missus to the shopping centre and find your key gone, now you have to get someone to bring the spare key. you go to lost and found and nothings been handed in cos somone thought it would be a good idea to keep it

to me thats a bit homo ish.

What he said. Not good.

Just to put the boot in (sshhhhh) most places have intercom/tannoy systems for people who can't seem to keep track of their kids :cartman:

I have a 3 button one and it doesn't open the boot. I bet you wished you never posted now Godber!

sorry but some things are a good find, and others should be handed in. Think how you would feel if you lost your key.

just to make you feel even worse, what if the car was de locked? they would have to climb in through the boot............ nice. then fork out 150 for a new key..

a friend of the wife had her keys pick pocketed from her bag, they went and found the car, had a look thro, found her address, locked the car, dumped the car key, and went to her house, knowing it would be a while till she got home.
Police said this happens a fair bit.
If that was me I would now be thinking, who has my key, do they know where I live, are they going to come and take the car, how much is a new set of keys and locks etc
