312mm Brake Conversion

Looking at doing this in the near future if I can get myself some callipers and carriers for quite a cheap price, as on a recent drive to Aberdeen and back I had some scares with the standard brake set up...feels like they're made of cheese!

Anyway, is there a thread specific to carrying out the conversion? As I think i'd be pretty clueless on where to start.

Any advice would be great, currently bidding on 312mm callipers and carriers on ebay, from a an octavia VRS.

Will this be ok?
 
octivia vrs i think 250 off ebay with brand new disks and pads and powdercoated green heres a pik of them on my mk4

still in good condition and only covered 1200 miles
 
they usually go up last min i hated looking for mine cause i hate ebay haha so i found a guy that would powdercoat them any colour and had a few sets or front and rear fully refurbed

im mainly fitting them for looks as mines only a 1.2 tsi lol
 
I was looking through the designated 312mm thread.

I can't seem to make sense of it.

What are the exact components need for the 312mm upgrade and from what cars.

I have found endless amounts of 312mm Upgrades on eBay - But reading Techie's 312mm thread - They're not straight fit/bolt on upgrade?


Help - Somebody clear all this up for me?

I can't remember specific sites but if you google search for different cars that you think may fit, like skoda octavia vrs or audi tt. Then look for sites or advertisements with diagrams and check them against the values given for your own car. Values to compare are pcd, disc thickness and disc centre line offset from the hub flange face.

For the calipers you need to check the mounting point values and again offset. Also caliper opening size to accomodate pads and disc thickness.
 
it mentions on that thread you cant use your orignal carriers ! you need to carriers that the calipers came off if you have them it is a stright fit

So as long as your 312mm Kit comes with the carriers its supposed to then for the other car i.e Octavia it will fit the Boca Straight fit?
 
yeah mine came with octavia carriers and swapped them with my old ones and fitted perfectly

apparently if you leave the old ones on it makes the pad sit at a dodgy angle
