3k Rev Limit with Clutch Depressed?

I have a 2.0TDi Stylance, is it right that with the clutch depressed the engine will only rev to 3k?

TIA

Thanks for that, was interesting reading, I thought something was up with mine today, I have other issues with it and thought this was another to add to the list.

In my old Jag S-Type, it was impossible to rev over 3.000 rpm when stationary for fear of harming the engine. Furthermore, it would change gear at below 3,000 rpm to prevent any damage occuring to the engine components.

I was of the belief that the Launch Control function was only on the DSG FR's. Ive engaged it in my FR quite a few times, with varying results. It is an actual program on the DSG, opposed to just dumping the clutch as you would on a manual version

Doesnt happen in mine,

I was parked the other week and leaned over the push some snow of the passenger window...
I though my foot was on the foot rest but it wast, i hit the accelerator and it jumped up to 5k revs!

What year is yours? perhaps it varies with year? mines if 08.

its got to be in 1st gear then clutch pressed in

Ah, i was in neutral so thats why.

Does it work in 2nd? Id have thought a full power launch in 1st would have the traction control going crazy, or if you switch it off, you would lose allot of rubber.

If it works in 2nd then that may be more controllable, id have thought i wouldnt stall if you were holding 3k revs. You probably wont beable to drop the clutch as that would probably stall it.

Trying to pulling away hard in 2nd gear? Are you really wanting to kill your clutch faster. you may get less wheelspin, but your clutch will be dead a lot quicker than you want.

I wondered as ive speed mention in the 0-60 threads that people are just starting in 2nd and wondering if it had anything to do with this.

Starting in 2nd isnt a thing i would do anyway.

You must be in first gear, foot to the floor clutch in it will sit at 3000 rpm pop the clutch and the wheels slap , your engine wants to jump off the mounts :) well that s what happened when i tried it :) .But in a previous thread they said it worked a treat like launch control :D

With a Cupra you can make the best times when starting in 2nd gear. But you have to build up boost first - and THAT will take apart your clutch in NO time!
And, you need to have HOT tires and a HOT road.
But if you have this, it feels like you get a kick in the balls )

SemiSlicks works best because of the extreeme traction ;)
But if you have a standard clutch, you will tear it apart i think...

And BTW.. My 2008 Cupra do NOT have a limiter at 3K RPM. If you floor it in any gear with the clutch pressed - it will hit the limiter at 7500rpm ;)

I too thought that Launch Control was exclusive to the FR DSG TFSI engine...
I know that in neutral in my FR Tfsi will rev to about 4k in neutral but all the way to the redline in Park. Also I find that launch control is a bit 'iffy'...

I'll quote Anchorman's Brian Fantana here...60% of the time, it works every time!

But when it does work it is a great little weapon at the lights.
