right people need some info how easy would it be to sauce the audi s3 4wd system and how much do you think it would cost? what part would need to be brought i.e gearbox/rear beam with dif prop shaft
gonna speak to djm motorsport about the conversion just need rough cost on parts and which is better s3 or r32 4wd system? hope someone can help:confused:

you'll need to shorten all driveshafts, and the propshaft as the Ibiza is shorter in all directions.

You will be looking at a heck of a lot no matter what. It might be better asking DJM what they can do rather than asking them to fit bits which aren't even similar to the existing.

I'll stab in the dark @ 10k though.

Would the golf rallye 4x4 syncro not be a better fit?

If not i know someone has done a polo (silver is all i can remember of it). Maybe have a look at how they did it?

thing is mork i didnt wanna shorten the drive shafts i wanted to widen the ibiza like the old mk2 ibiza f2

10k is ok because i would spend more then that on a s3 anyway and ive already got the ibiza
scotty the 4x4 syncro would be so hard to sauce there rare as fcuk anyway

It's going to require a lot of fabrication then. steering rack, subframes, wishbones all some how need to be made to fit

certainly not fit & forget

plus they've not done VW stuff before, so there will be no quick way of doing it

would be cheaper to tell them to stick in a COsworth 4WD setup, at least they've done that

Don't be a muppet James, the car will never be salable, & even if it were (@ 1/10th of the cost to you), then think of the insurance.
Just go with your initial instinct & get a S3, mod it to as close as 300bhp as £5k will get you & you will still be quids in at the other end.

I would say you can't polish a turd, but I would be proved wrong.
but at least financially I'm right ;)

PS, Scotty, you said 'missis', you hooked up for good now mate?

;)

i think the problem lies in that the ibiza was never meant to be 4wd , wheras there was a mk2 golf 4wd , i think an american company has a blog on how they do they'res , they just bolt in the 4wd floorpan, this doesnt exist for ibizas , lot of fabrication required

sureley if all the prop shafts and the drive shafts shortened then s3 system will be the best bet, (also caould then use the hedex controller)as said lots of fabrication but be a 1 off, and the lightest 20vt 4wd platform, we know this lump can be good for 600bhp as the yanks have showed us
other idea is get another 20vt engine fitted in the rear, go twin engine or convert your ibiza to rear wheel drive

if you are gonna go to those extremes why use your car ?

may as well start with an empty shell and better still spaceframe it

heres a guide

nothing is impossible though ;)

Keep the ibiza for a daily driver and buy something proper fast with proper 4wd for the weekend for £12-£15k
