Hi all,

Being apart of this group and the Formentor owners one on Facebook its always full of negative comments of issues people are having with acc or the screen niggles ect ect.

I just want to say, mine has been awesome. Its still a learning game though.
I have a v2 manual (would have liked a vz2 or 3 but I have a racecar and 3 kids to fund too)
I havnt experienced any software issues at all. It's all upto date software wise.

Before I got the car I knew of the potential issue some of the vw 1.5 engines have with kangarooing joined with manual boxes. Mine has this issue but its not bothered me as it only lasts to the end of my street then its fine.

The front radar & acc do not like fog. It disabled the option on mine one foggy morning.

Only thing I dislike about the car is the cup holders, they drive me insane!

I love the look other road users give you, I have only seen two other formentors on the road since I have had mine, one near Derby and one on the m25! I'm from near Leicester.

Anyway here's some pics of mine,
Mods (if you can call them that) include-

Team heko wind deflectors
Car shades UK Interior sun shades, all rear windows, (development car)
Titan covers boot cover (development car)

I've had my VZ3 for 4 months. My observations - I'm not sure the infotainment system is very good at multitasking so I've learnt that I need to give it a few moments to respond. For example I now make sure I log on onto my profile before popping the car in reverse to get it out of the garage, if i do that the infotainment system seems to awaken a bit quicker. Apple carplay normally works but every now and again Waze will freeze or music through spotify won't play, suspect that's as much to do with apple as Cupra. It seems to be connection related, switching my phone into airplane mode and back normally works. On one occasion this resulted in the infotainment system freezing producing an audible buzzing sound and then the system restarted.

As a test I purchased a data package from Cubic telecom (mainly to get Alexa to work without having to connect my phone as a hotspot each time) It worked Ok but not worth the monthly fee so I cancelled the subscription. Now EVERY time i start the car I get a message saying that I no longer have a data package....which I know. I can delete the message but it reappears the next day. Like many things with these cars - small but irritating issues.

Like many owners in the UK I've encountered the issue with incorrectly displayed speed (kph instead of mph) so because of this I've switched off most of the ACC functions due to the known issues - which I hope will see a fix soon. I have though used basic cruise control and it was fine.

Mechanically its been awesome, and I've never had a car with so many different characters.

I like the look of your rear blinds. Are they decent quality?

This very nearly got me a ticket, when I was in ACC at 70mph and the car randomly changed to 110. Not dangerous in the slightest.

I've also noticed recently that ACC seems to assume vehicles in the left hand lane are a hazard, and as such, brake and stay behind them...

Both are common issues with UK RHD Formentors. There’s lots of discussions on here and FB detailing them.

I saw a white one in the distance and mistook it for a Sportage. I showed a mate what I've ordered and he said a Sportage at first glance because of the rear. That's all.

Haha funny......... but actually it is true. Google them both. We know it's a Formentor and looks stunning. But I thought it was funny how two different people mis took it for a Sportage at first.

2 months ownership next week VZ3 and absolutely love the car. Only one instance of brakes being applied momentarily for no reason. Other than that no problem whatsoever. Still driving as a guest and not linked to anything. Everything works as it should. Hopefully I haven’t jinxed myself😄

I have Had my VZ3 for 1 month and so far all is well. I also am still on guest user. Should I register as primary user or leave as guest - the only thing I am missing is real time traffic on the nav - am I likely to encounter issues if I move away from guest. Views please ? Anything else I am missing by staying as guest ?
