Now I used to be able to do this on my Mk1 without venting, managed a 700 once with.

Took these pics this morning at work, have 60 miles to get home tonight then 120 tomorrow plus (+10 at lunch) a 60 back in on Friday. Dare not risk not filling up on Friday lunch but I'm going to go for the 600 at least. Maybe then I'll start brimming it on a Sunday night to do the full week.

250 range after 364 done.

I'd like a go in a PD130 Beeza.... they seem to do daft MPG.

Will mean filling up in Harrogate on Friday at over 2ppl more and losing out on about 57 clubcard points!

I think if I tried I'd get 600 on every tank, no problems. I get about 550-570 at the moment. Driving on motorways at a sensible speed, 600 should be no problem on a full tank for a MK2 FR TDI.

Had this as well, but when you fill to the brim you get a MUCH lower fuel range - never too sure what display to believe, apart from my wallet that gives the true picture ¬¬??¬!!

I've done a 580 before but never had the journey just right to do 600. Normally I'd fill up tonight.

Last night.

So I have the 130 I need. The last 10 miles of my journey is quite twisty so that 130 was a lot higher before I got here. Got the 10 miles for my lunch at least and another 120 for getting home and back. Should be some left over to get me some fuel tomorrow lunch...

I should do that anyway really. I've run at waiting in line at the petrol station before. My Mk1 I did it twice. All to see how far it can be pushed... new fuel filter quite often!

I should add a can midweek every week and just add the extra fuel manually into my MPG calculation. Would easily do a full week then and save me filling up midweek.

600 in the mk1 was hard work but I never thought I'd do it in the mk2. Maybe I got out of the habit after being able to vent and having a 225 TT since this one.

I found it easier to get over 500/550 in my MK1 over my MK2. The gearing in the MK1 was better IMHO.

I won't be worried until tomorrow morning. Need to keep that in mind at all times and not get tempted to have a play like I nearly did with the white 118d coupe on my backside last night.

Went out at lunch and it went up to 140 before getting stuck in traffic and getting back here with 115, a 5 mile deficit just to get back to work. Will then need to get fuel at lunch. If I get decent traffic tonight it should be fine...
