Hi everyone,

Last week I just bought a 6J ibiza Cupra!

I drive a mini cooper with a K1100 BMW Cylinder head. That is just for fun and sunny days.

My old "daily is an Audi a4 quattro 20.TFSI tuned to about 280 bhp

That was way too thirsty for me to drive everyday to work. So I was looking for something else. I wanted a small fun car like my mini and something comfortable like the Audi but a bit kinder on fuel. I landed here!

Here it is the day I bought it -

Bought as a quick project from a dealer. The last one (who didn't have the car vey long) has done some very poor mods on the car (pictures of the wrapped straight through exhaust to come). I also removed 30kg of active subwoofers from under the parcel shelf.

Jobs for now fit the new Milltek exhaust ordered and some other bits. I will try and make my own induction kit using the old air box.

Anyway good to be here! and thanks for the help so far!

So this is going to be a bit of a general tidy up. Some mods, some removal of mods and some restoration.

I have set myself a tight budget on this car since it is supposed to save me money.

So lets see what happens...

Many parts have been hydrodipped, which I not generally a fan of, but it looks ok. The wing mirror caps were a bit tatty, so a quick rub down, clear coat, run down with several grades of wet and dray and three grades of compound and polish:

Before:

After:

There are some imperfections/damage in the hydro dip, but I can live with that.

Remember the part where this is a budget build.
Current intake:

So I have been looking at a cost effective induction kit. Doesn't seem too exist, but I feel I can improve the handy work of the last owner.
I think using the original air box was a good idea poorly executed.

Parts -

I had to cut the bottom of the airbox, I think the sis ok as the air down there shouldn't bee too warm. I have an extra cold air feed that I will tray and squeeze in there.

to be continued...

New Plugs (BKR7EIX) and NGK coils fitted tonight

Cylinder 1 was a bit involved...... basically ended ups removing most stuff around it.

Here is a handy tip, a bit of packing tape is great for pulling the coils up:

I ended up snapping a part off the WG control valve.

Then I remembered I had an old turbo form my 2.0T A4-
happy days - same part.

New plugs are a tad shorter. I understand this is a good thing

Comparison of the standard discs and the 312mm

Also Golf 4 callipers and discs fitted:

They are still bedding in, but certainly feel much better.

Also managed to find a set of 6J0601025F wheels.

A bit overkill fitting drilled discs to the rear, but why not....

Well.... the engine is a gonner.

Cam chain has either skipped, or jumped. Car is currently at the dealer I bought it from. Engine change is looking likely.
