Has anybody here 7DSG already paired with TSI?
What are your experiences?
Looking for information about 1.4TSI/1.8 TSI with 7DSG...

My biggest problem is parking - I have to park everyday on the pavement (walkway next to road in the city), which means I have to "climb" ca. 10-15cm curb (kerbstone) between road and walkway.

With manual I usually come reversing under 45° close to curb with first tire, then add significantly more rev and a bit faster release clutch, co let tire climb curb smoothly. Then slowly get second/third tire to the curb and again with more rev and faster release of clutch let them climb to the walkway. Finally the last tire in the same way.
How is it with DSG?
Isn't it too much for everyday parking for DSG??

What about care about 7DSG?
I know that VAG says it's with unlimited lifetime, but I assume oil should be changed after some time..

I have Model year 2016 FR ST 1.4 ACT with 7 spd DSG and when I visit my sister I usually have to 'climb' a kerb of about 10cm. I approach the kerb at an angle with the wheels turned towards the kerb and let the car climb without using throttle, it will only do this in 'normal' mode not in 'ECO' mode.

And your overall thoughts? I understand you are not able to judge what is the impact of everyday parking on a kerb on DSG, but another experience?
Is it reliable with 1.4 ACT?
How is the smoothness of driving with 7DSG?

I've only done 9500 miles in 2 years! I don't use the car on a daily basis. Gear changes seam to be good and smooth, it responds well when I flick it into 'sport' position. I'm a bit disappointed with fuel consumption but that is probably my right foot causing that.

disappointed with fuel consumption
What does it mean?

You know, my 3y 1.4 ACT ST FR has 42mpg, which is disappointing when comparing to the value SEAT promises (60mpg), but not disappointing when taking into account its available power. When going out of the city, it's really possible to reach 56mpg... Mixture of city and out of the city means 42mpg.
So what is real consumption of 1.4ACT DSG?

I'm really comparing it to my previous car (MK6 Golf 2.0 TDI 140) comparing the VW and Seat official fuel consumption figures the Seat should be better in theory, I used to get around 45mpg on Golf (worked out full tank to full tank and miles covered), but I only get around 36 to 38 on the Leon. Although I just had a look on the info screen and got 44.9 at 57mph average speed over 48miles, long term shows 39.7mpg over 703 miles with average speed 31mph and since refuelling 41.3mpg over 98mls with average speed of 41mph.

Funny you should post this...yesterday I had to do this exercise...parking up 'ish' a curb. I have never done this exercise before since I had a DSG for 3 years now, I have parked with manual (up a curb) before, as you do, revs and vary the power from the clutch...(handbrake helps too if need be).

BTW...I flew up the curb , as releasing brake alone did not have enough power to climb the curb...so I press gas, (I drive 1 pedal method) but i couldn't go from gas to brake quick enough...luckily there was not car parked behind me...

I know some will say I'm a bad driver, but it happened, now I know, what not to do..also, try parallel parking up a curb on an incline with those annoying E-brake (esp with manual)...there is no half brake, just full on or full off...

Anyway mpg wise, can't comment on 1.4ACT, but I've seen quite a few post their trip computer data, and some have done some impressive figures...(55 - 65mpg) although I guess this is on 2 cyl mode most of the way at fast speeds.

My 1.0 EcoTSI (no ACT) engine official is 53 and 64 combined. I have been able to get routinely around 50mpg mark for my 11 mile journey through central London on a Sunday AM (best was 58).

Heavy traffic: ~ 30-35mpg
Medium traffic: ~35-40mpg
Light traffic: 40-50mpg
30-50mph dual carriageway: 55-60mpg
Highway 70mph roads: 47-55mpg

Bear in mind the 'official' extra urban figures for my engine is 72.4mpg (I will never get this).

This would be more or less the same like the test method, eg...some stop /go, roll for a while, stop etc. I believe the test figures do not have 'crawling traffic or any traffic at all' factored. Plus like humans, the real world is harder than on a 'treadmill' that the car is tested on, in 'warm' temperatures, high tyre pressures + the best fuel avaliable (I guess 97-99RON). What petrol are you using slamka33? All my best mpg figures were always with Vpower 99, and worst figures with supermarket fuel. Also, what i found that if you see a traffic light turn red ahead, just lift off, let the car roll, it really stretched the mpg for better. Sometimes I roll for over 15-20 secs.

OH, and DSG is great, very smooth, very precise.

Uff, as I have to park on the curb every day, it does not sounds as a benefit to have a DSG... :(
Parking places are short, climbing will be difficult. Maybe two foots method will help, but it will need some practice.

If you have the old school handbrake, it should be ok...if you really need to stop, pull the handbrake with your left hand. If you have the E-Brake, I can't say, as I haven't got that...but from experience with a manual A3 with e-brake, it's not beneficial with climbing curbs or inclines. Perhaps just my inexperience, I've only ever done bay parking and parallel, and the only time I did the curb, on incline, it flew! Done curbs with manual before, used the clutch wisely..and it worked just fine...

I mean - I have no problem to climb the curb with manual. I am doing it for ages and no problem.. :)
Just wondering how it will works with DSG, if to even go into DSG, as I really have to park this way every day. I am afraid it will be quite big load on DSG such climbing on everyday basis...

I have just recently bought a 1.8 TSI DSG and it seems fine going up kerbs, I personally don't think its an issue with the gearbox, more just how comfortable you are parking.

a little rev should be fine. but i go up kerbs half that height and the car seems fine. I came from a 1.4 TSI manual and nothing for me has changed.

I have the 1.4 dsg and it has been no issue going from manual to auto for mounting kerbs to park as I do it on a regularly.

Best is to book a test drive and try it yourself.

I did 5k on my 1.4 ACT TSI + DSG but never had to go up on a kerb

as for consumption DSG helps a lot, I would be reving in 3rd while DSG is already in 5th, just an example
I'm getting around 40 Mpg in London and 60+ outside ... but all depends on my right foot.
