has anyone got any pictures of this type of car. specifically engine and interior, im thinking of getting one and swapping the engine into mine same year and all just a 1.4 but would ideally like something in the car which i can resell in order to make a bit of money back.
cheers guys

It's an 8v mate. 2E engine.

I was bidding on it - but it's above what it's worth, so don't.

nnnnoooooooooooo theres me getting my hopes up.
oh well at least i didnt win it and have to go all the way down there to find out.

ill go cry now :(

i guess your on the look out for a GTi then? are you hoping to swap engines or just keep the car as you buy it?

erm, I saw it as a cheap opportunity to hack up my cordy into small bits and sell the good bits (engine & interior, rear beam etc) and then set about having some fun again on an ibiza (like gutting it & making it wider)

But it'd owe me £450 by the time I get home, and it's not worth that!

you tried scrappies? one has been and gone in our local one i am afraid, it had a severe rear ender but the engine and interior were there. So if you get friendly with a few local scrappies you may have first pick if they get or find out about any. If your not too fussed about interior would you not be able to get an engine from a mk3 golf?

i know it seems a bit much but im looking for a very cheap 2L 16V with half leather interior to sell :) i should be so lucky and the brakes in good nick so i can swap them over too... and anything else. i guess i have to swap ECU obviously maybe? so then i thought if i just swap the whole engine management from the ECU then id be fine.

by engine management i mean everything related to the engine... just didnt know the correct term... or maybe it is :)

Yeah your definately gonna need all the engine electrics and maybe even the dashboard so you get the right dials and readings. You may also have trouble if your car or the donor car has keys with immobilisers in as if i remember correctly the ECU has the immobiliser code in it so they would change with the new engine stopping your keys from working. I think there is a way or reprogramming the ECU to take different codes though.

Good Luck with it mate!

will be a cool project for myself if i ever find a car. i know a seat audi VW scrappers near my uni pretty well so ill give them another try, i went a while ago but they said ring in a bit when the boss is in but i thought if i ring up i might not get it for such a good price as in person :).

cheers

yeah it should be good for you to do i used to love working on my old polo, but that was a lot simpler, dont have the guts to mess around with the more technological ibiza. You probably would get a better deal in person waving money infront of them, i always have a haggle. My mate restores cars so is frequently at the scrappers and lets me know if he sees any ibiza's, so as your not too far away from me i'll let you know if one turns up.
