95 or 100 octane. What fuel do you use??

On the fuel cap, it says the manufacture recommends 95. After i had the Unitronic program put on the Cupra, my tuner said to use only 100 which i have been doing. There was a few times where i had to use 95 because 100 was not available. I definitely notice a small difference with the better fuel.

Whats your guy's opinion about this....or personal experience?

Has there been any dyno experience between different fuels?

use 100 O only when u have a racing or a chalenge and for daily use 95 O if u want to know the diffrent between the two get race with any one and in the 1st time use 95 and in the 2cd use 100 and u will see how match the diffrent

I believe the 2.0tfsi engine does run better on the higher octane fuels. Other engines may not get the same results (my clio ran the same whatever petrol I put in)

I don't think that you'll be breaking the souind barrier if you put in higher octane, but i get much more miles to the gallon.

Haven't done roller comparisons but it's definately proven to be better ( see small article in latest topgear and also previous Evo magazine had an advert or review on it)
I know when they remapped my car they asked twice to make sure what fuel it was going to be run on.

If your unitronic map is tuned for 100, you will see an improvement. Running a lower octane may retard the timing if the map is specially designed for 100ron.

I use BP Ultimate RON 97 which seems to be OK and driving over a year without any problems.

I see BP also do RON 102, shame they only do it down south at a handful of filling stations they are trialling it at.

Has anyone tried this stuff yet??

i'm running a TDI, but i use V power diesel with a splash of millers. when i had a 1.2 ibiza before the leon, i always used V power petrol. you could say it was a waste of money in a 1.2, but the car was easier to start and ran smoother with the more expensive fuel. Had starting problems especially with standard supermarket unleaded.

08 Cupra, I was using V-Power for the first 8 months or so. But when fuel prices suddenly dropped I went to standard unleaded and can't notice the difference!

They've done some performance and fuel economic measurements for the Golf V GTI in various medias (google's your friend) and they've all recognized that it increases power by about 5-15 hp and slightly increases the mileage. For Cupra with more powerful turbocharger the increase is most likely more than that. This only applies to charged engines and you hardly get any improvement for naturally aspirated engines. Rampage, you propably wont feel the difference when changing the fuel, but that's because putting your foot down in a car with 240 hp will always feel savage, even if you give or take 20 hp to either way.

Here in Finland the 98 RON petrol costs a measly 3 cents more than regular 95 RON. Keeping in mind that using premium lowers the fuel consumption, you might end up losing money by filling 95. Even if it didn't reduce fuel consumption it's still a 1.50 euros for 50 litre fill. Hardly a worthy place to save given how much money you spend on the car in other expenses and depreciation. Enjoy it full while it's yours..

Oh and if you change to use higher octane petrol, bear in mind that it takes a several hundred miles for the ECU to adjust its ignition advance.

Always Tesos 99ron here.

When I first got the car I tried a tankfull of Asda 95ron and the engine seemed more noisey at startup so I've stuck with the 99ron. Hardly scientific I know.

There was a mag article (from Which maybe) quoted in some of the papers a few months back saying that most engines didn't benefit from super. They did mention VW group turbo engines as being one of the few engine groups to benefit though.
