Shell V power is blended as a 99. Tesco momentum 99 is from what i have read a 97 octane fuel with additives, which in turn makes it less consistant with RON rating fluctuating, as opposed to V-power

I think Wee G is right.

Strange thing is my car runs better on M99 then V-Power and also M99 is usually about 6p-10p less a litre (then add Tesco vouchers on top)

The difference between 97 and 99 is 2. can you really tell any difference during road use and driving within the legal limits? I know that I never could when I had a 20vt. IMO if your car runs better on 99 or whatever super dooper stuff they market these days then your car has something wrong with it or it's mega modded to squeeze every last tiny little bit of power from the engine. In the latter case it should be used on a track.

One thing I noticed about m99 is that it doesn't seem to burn as clean, back of the car gets covers in black spots a lot quicker

Some cars yes, they actually adapt to what fuel you use and you will get more performance with 99 Ron over 95

134.9 Tesco against 137.9 at shell, so not 6p but a reasonable 3p or with my tank £1.50 per fill up, which is about £78 per year, hmmm well after 8 years I'd have enough to get a remap, lol maybe I should rethink this plan

Nowhere near me sells the good Tesco fuel, theres a shell garage next to work and one close-ish to home. No brainer really.

It isn't though. It's measured differently, a bit like decibels, so it's actually a bigger gap than you think

The mrs fiiled up at Sainsbury's 97, when I took it out later and had a "spirited" drive against a mates mk1 LCR. He stayed with me, the next week when it was run on Tesco 99 and another spirited drive, I hammered him. The mrs got a bollocking for using 97.

So with mine atleast, the difference is very clear to the tune of 40 bhp.

You get 40 BHP from an extra 2 octane?

WOW! that's an unbelievable claim........................

Personally, having given it a good go (really wanting it to make a difference) I came to the conclusion that it was all placebo. Unless you have massive mods designed to take full advantage of it.

On a stock engine or just a basic remap I really couldn't tell at all. Well, I could feel the difference in my wallet.
