A couple of questions for a new FR owner!

Hey all,

Picked up my FR on Saturday and I love it! So much power!

Wonder if you could help me with a couple of things, I know there are threads on head units but want something a little more up to date.

Want to change head unit but don't really wanna pay over £300, But it needs to have steering wheel control and Bluetooth for music? What would everybody advice?

Also has anyone had there calipers painted? If so how much did it cost?

You might even recognize it as the guy who owned was a big car enthusiast so he might of been on here.

You could have a look at this for a cheaper Headunit...

For that price I wasn't sure lol but it doesn't have Bluetooth but you can connect your iphone via the usb option it also should work with the steering controls from what I read but you would need the correct connector and facia...

I'm also unsure if the unit would show the SEAT logo or VW on startup...

It's probably for the best, android is the way forward hence why work gets me an iphone and I have a htc lol

Do you have the RCD510? Can you shuffle all songs?

I believe that you need a wiring loom connector thing and a new facia which you can get from Dave on here

Also after reading into the deep dark places on all the small text in this ebay thing is that it doesn't come with anything apart from the USB and Aux cable... do you need anything else (not including the wiring loom and Facia) like power etc...

Oh right fair enough, Where can I get a power lead and wiring loom from as I ordered it last night haha!

Not very savy with ICE so I could have a look but I know I would end up ordering the wrong things haha!

To be fair I didn't think you would need a separate power cable? I though't the wiring loom would power it up.

Hope I haven't messed up and have to send it back!

Logically thinking about it you should be right and everythign should be there from the old unit...

I have also ordered one so see how we go lol

Does anyone know where to get the correct Facia for my car? As the ones on eBay seems to be different colours..

Send Dave a eBay messgae when you have bought it and he will get you the right colour and fixings with it. (Dave is the guy who runs the parts dept. at Sere Motors and I got mine from him off that link).

My car IS a facelift, but an rcd510 plugged straight in and played USB aux and everything.
Word of warning though, there's like a raised but of plastic in the cradle for the head unit in the dash. If you bought one out ofa vw this need to be removed as the sd card slot catches and it won't sit flush. Easy, just need a dremmel or a saw blade lol
My car is a facelift though, so this is either really useful or completely irrelevant lol
