Following on from the petrol contamination fiasco I could do with a little bit of help with the following questions….

1) How easy is it to drain the petrol from the tank – any advice?
2) Where is the Lambda on the LC (I haven’t looked yet) – will I need plasters for grazed knuckles?
3) Where can I buy a new lambda sensor, the usual suspects (Euro Crap Parts, GSF) don’t stock one for the 1.8T.

Are you having bad problems then? The news seems to be reporting that affected areas are from East Anglia downwards to the South cost.

The local radio are saying that loads of cars in the North Bucks/ South Northants area are affected :(

ok, but is yours? I put tescos in when i was in waltham abbey on saturday which is one of the affected stores "apparently", but i have'nt had any problems. Plus i still don't buy that a little bit of extra ethanol content would do damage on just one tank, surely it would need to be prolonged use, esepcially when you think that people use Octane boosters etc anyway.

I filled up from empty on Saturday and did approx. 130 miles, then yesterday morning on the way to work the engine light came on. Since then performance has started to drop off a little.

It will be interesting to know the cars that have been most affected by this situation. I wonder if anybody is going to collect this type of data?

The editor of what car this morning on GMTV was saying that it could have come in on a boat that may have had residues from a previous load.

Trading Standards were on the news this morning talking about it. They are investigating the petrol and have taken examples from various pumps and from affected cars. If it does indeed turn out the fuel is to blame, TS say everybody affected has a legitimate case and can claim for full compensation from the company responsible.

The trouble is, every Tom, **** and Harry is going to try and blag everything they can through this. At the first sign of any unrelated problem they will be trying to make a claim, blaming 'the bad petrol'

Anyways, can anyone help with my questions???????

what symptoms did you get pal, i filled up in bury last night and has been running really wierd since

my car was hit with this fuel lambda senser gone £170 to replace!. The only change i noticed was the throtle felt sticky if i took my foot off the peddle the car would still acelarate quite scary !!

i filled up in tesco in milton keynes, engine light came on after quarter tank than i took it to inde - tech just before i got there (a day later) it went off (half tank). i was told to dilute the fuel whith another brand (shell v - power) and its been fine since no performance problems still goes like stink!!!lol
