About to buy a mk4 cupra tdi just a quick question

Hi guys im new to the forum as im going to purhcase a mk4 cupra tdi on saturday. Anyway i always modify my cars and 1st thing always at the top of my list is lowering , but only problem being is that ive heard that when these ibiza's are lowerd the anti roll bars foul the drive shafts ? Just wanted to know if this is true and if so is there anything that can be done to prevent or help this ?

Take it off and chuck it, I did it to my cordy just recently and I've read of a number of folk doing it to their Mk4 ibizas too. If you're sticking on harder springs and shocks you'd be lucky if you noticed any change. If you were planning on building a track car maybe it'd be different but I haven't noticed any change to mine at all apart from less low down rumble noises. The other option is probably aftermarket arb's, I expect there'll be one designed for that very problem.

It depends on what brand of coilovers you buy. The problem can be easily solved by fitting shorter droplinks. I have AP coilovers on mine and haven't had any fouling, not sure which brands require the shorter drop links

I fitted Ford puma droplinks on my cupra tdi, about an inch shorter, job done.

First mod.... remap.

Shorter droplinks came with my FK's. No problems even running all the way down... well, apart from the horrific ride quality.

Ive got FK sport edition + and i had to also get ford puma drop links. Only about £10 from egay.

I want to remap it but im fancying a fmic for it too , but im sure the clutch will slip with these mods as it'll be too much torque so ill have to look into it. Got alot of reading up to do on these cars yet, its my 1st diesel so alot to learn lol

I got adjustable droplinks made by V-MAX, allows then to easily be put back to standard again if ever required.

As said, the Cupra tdi comes with a rather large and effective intercooler as standard.

How many miles has the car done your buying? Clutch should be fine at stage 1 with a decent map.

Its done 67k. Its had all the belt changes, tensioner and water pump done about 4k miles ago too . Whens the average milage when the clutch starts to go on these ?
If the fmic is pretty good ill just map it then

Not too sure on mileage, all depends how its driven though. Mine was changed at 45k, clutch was fine for 15k with a stage 1 map but noisy release bearing was bugging me so replaced / uprated the whole lot

When the car was idling (usually when cold) there was a clunking noise. Used to stop when you put your foot on the clutch and used to be difficult to engage gear if I was doing alot of manouvering such as parking
