Basically i have sprayed about 4 coats of paint and will have to leave it 24 hours to dry.

But to achieve the best finish should i use wet and dry sandpaper or should i just lacquer it, i've heard that once you have sanded it down it goes matt so im not sure what to do to achieve the gloss finish, anyone done this before?

you need to wet sand them then the clear coat.

make sure you have a constant flow of water when sanding and use a fine paper

Soak the fine sand paper for 30mins (1200 or 1400 grit) in warm soapy water and then sand them down. This will get them nice and smooth.
Then a few coats of lacquer. Don't get too carried away with this, use very light coats....

yes it will matt the colour but when you clear coat the mirrors that gives it the gloss/shine
