accelerator problem with lc

hello!

for the last few weeks i have been having trouble when changing gear. when i put the clutch in and lift off the accelerator the revs pick up for a second before dropping instead of going straight down like the pedal is sticking or something. also when im accelerating hard the turbo kicks in but fades away a lot as the revs pick up. if i lift off the pedal and floor it again the turbo kicks in again. could this be the dv leaking or something along those lines? my car is starting to annoy me now had few problems with it. its good when it is working tho!!!

thanks

when you 1st start the car when its cold does rev up around 1500rpm and then drop down to aroun 800rpm when it has warmed up?

it revs to around 1800 rpm sometimes and then drops down to around 800 after few minutes. occasionly it will just start at 900 rpm when its cold. when pulling away at low speed in the cold and i lift off the accelerator and put the clutch in it revs over 2000 1st before going to 1300ish. thats when im in traffic going slowly out of work car park. seems a bit erratic

could be your air mass meter! with diagnostic it hard to tell.

Here quick remedy that may help, - this adjust you trottle so it realigns.

disconnect you battery for 5mins, then reconnect it. turn on the ignition BUT dont start it - wait for 1 minute. you should here your trottle body realigning. after that start your car. every thing has been reset.

if you have orignal tape - you need to enter passcode again

ok cheers for that. will give it a go tomorrow. what sort of sound does it make when realigning? only thing i have changed on my car so far is the head unit so dont need to worry about that luckily

Stick it in 3rd gear and hover around 1500 revs, then put ur foot down. If it takes a long time to build up the revs, then the MAF has gone. If you see it as reasonable, then pass!

Try the battery first though.

ok thanks ill have a play tomorrow. i think it does accelerate alright just the turbo seems to become a bit wimpy after a second or 2. turbo starts kicking in 2500-3000 rpm but by the time gets past 4000 rpm in 3rd or 4th it seems 2 die off until i lift off the pedal and floor it again and then it seems to pull a lot better again til around 5000rpm then i normally change gear. i may have a couple problems for all i know lol. 1 with the turbo and 1 with the engine hanging on to the revs when changing gear or something

well i think is dodgy N75 valve, mine use die at 5000rpm. With out a diagnostic its hard to tell!

yeah i have thought it could be that altho wasnt really sure. was thinking of getting a forge dv cos they are meant to be a lot more reliable dunno if that would cause the engine to hang on to the revs when changing gear tho unless its not releasing all the pressure when its meant to or something. not sure exactly how they work. my car has done 72k so may need changing

im from plymouth. is the maf the thing on the air filter or is it somewhere else? if i unplug it will that tell me if its faulty?

just remembered when i changed airfilter i forgot to plug it in and when turned it on my car didnt seem 2 healthy. guess depends what is wrong with the maf if its completely buggered and unplugging has no effect then i know its that altho doubt its that bad. i think warning lights came up for engine and abs and that when it was. are they expensive? if they are fairly cheap i may buy 1 and see if sorts problem. if they cost a lot better off getting it checked out
