advice on spending £28 for 4x 40mm lowering springs from eBay before paying big money

Looking ot spend about £200-£300 on a GOOD set of shocks and springs, as I want a more comfortable ride than coilovers, but I am only guna get one shot at these, as If I by 35mm or 40mm drop and dont like it thats alot of money to loose. So thinking maybe get those cheap £28 Springs from eBay -> http://cgi.ebay.co.uk/ws/eBayISAPI....43704&ssPageName=STRK:MEWAX:IT#ht_2027wt_1061 might end up saving me some money, as I said Im after quality so if this drop is right then I will buy the shocks and springs kit by Koni, Ebaich, Spax or one of the big boys.

£28 springs won't fit, they're for a mk1 golf. Second set look ok, but i'd personally go for the second hand eibachs

Eibach are quality springs. About £150 new iirc. Lee69 has some fitted on his leon, maybe speak to him

I started with some Koni springs on a 40mm drop, stiffened up the ride a bit and improved the handling. But on standard cupra shocks still it was a lil floppy on a track so now Koni Adj dampers.
Dont get cheap crap - itll more likely break / wear out REALLLL quick! depends how you drive of course, but just my 2 cents worth.
If your on a real tight budget then defo get 2nd hand, worry is you dont know how old it is or how its been used..........................

Quality springs get them bought.
I used mine with the shocks on the car too, no problems at all.

Then why bother wasting money on a cheap set

Mines on a 40mm drop - circa 1" from top of wheel to top of arch. you can always cut the springs down a bit if you want...................

Cheap coilies are cheap for a reason, loose gas and cant handle impact - ie buggered!! Id strongly suggest a good set of springs and if thats still not enough then some good dampers. Cheap coilies only if you roll from home to shows and no "spritful" driving inbetween.

ye? they would prob only be testers as i said, id buy some new ones later after im happy with the drop.

would i be looking at big money to get a garage to install the springs?

or they fuk easy to do ayway?

Easy to do yourself with a bit of know-how and the right tools. Takes about an hr per front to take it all off and replace with new spring. Rears are done in about 10 mins!!!

Eibach are the ones you want.

Thats the problem with ebay, people dress cheap **** up to look really appealing, last thing you want is for a cheap ebay spring to collapse when your doing 70mph.....

Its a crucial part of the car so buy the best quality you can with your budget.

called up STS Tyres in Tonbridge, the fella there (with a grey LCR ) said he'd needa have a look to get an idea of how long it would take, but he reckons id be looking at £25 a corner for him to fit lowering springs for me.

£100 isn't a bad price tbh, if you can't wield a spanner.

I can but i haven't done a spring / suspension change before. Im all for having a bash, but this is quite an important part of my car safety wise so needs to be done right, so if It something I could do then Il go for it.

Well that the thing these are only test springs to see how i would get on with that ride height before being a proper kit. so not sure.

I think you'll be impressed with the Eibachs so much so you might want to keep them, they are firm in the corners but not crashy over bumps.
