Hi

I'm new to this forum.

I have a Mk 2 Leon 2.0 Tdi and am looking to get an after market ipod connection fitted. Looking on the web there seems to be a lot available and just wanted to see if anyone has any opinions or has one fitted.

I have been looking at the Dennison which looks quite a decent bit of kit but would be pleased if anyone can offer any advice etc.

Any comments greatly received.

Cheers

I have a Dension Gateway 100 & it works fine with my 8GB Nano.
It plugs into the CD changer socket at the back of the HU.

The iPod plugs into the docking cable & then you can operate it through the HU or steering wheel controls (if have them).

Hi

Thanks for that. It was the Dennison 100 that I was looking at.

Couple of further queries: 1. Where abouts in the car is yours fitted? I really want mine to go into the armrest. 2. How do you navigate between tracks/albums? Do you get any info on either the HU or MFD? (I have Bluetooth fitted so have the larger screen).

Also, I don't fancy fitting this myself. Can you recommend anyone to fit it for me? Obviously cost will count with credit crunch & all that! I've seen the Dennison unit on sale for £139.

Thanks for your help.

1. Mines in the armrest. :)
2. You can navigate through tracks by the forward button (as if it was a CD).
Selecting albums can be done through the CD disc buttons (1-6). It will only play your first 5 playlists, as button 4 is a "park" mode for the current album playing.
3. No info comes up on the screen on mine, but I don't have the MFD.

Hi Jon

Cheers for that.

Did you fit the unit yourself or did you have a specialist do it? I'm skeptical about trying the DIY option myself!

If you had someone else fit, can you remember what sort of cost?

I might have a go myself then!

How did you manange to get the docking wire through to the armrest? Did you put through/under the centre console and then make hole in the old drinks holder under the armrest?

I can't think of any other way of doing it but also can't see it being that easy!!

Yes, that's exactly what I did! :D

The other end of the cable has a smaller round connection, so there's no need to drill a massive hole.

Well I just recently fitted the dension gateway 100 the first one from a seat dealer which gave no text on MFD and didn't work properly so I ordered one off the internet and the number you need is a dension gw16vc1 which works off steering controls and click through songs albums playlists using buttons on the end of your wiper stalk. Also charges ipod and turns it on and off with headunit. excellent system cost toal £169 as its £134 plus dock lead plus delivery and it took 10 days to come. Mine came from car vision audio. Hope this helps. Kev

Hi Kev

Thanks for that.

How did you get on with fitting it yourself? I want to install mine with a docking cable so sits in the armrest.

If you have any details about how you got the cable from the back of the HU to the armrest I would appreciate it. I wouldn't normally attempt this but with credit crunch & getting married this year every penny counts!!

Thanks in advance.:)

Well fitting took me about 30 mins but I only run my cable into the glovebox. I took my glovebox out only 5 or 6 screws and disconnected my airbag switch in glovebox (if you have one) that made it easy to position the wiring behind radio easier. Once you get the wiring down the passenger side it would easy enough to get to arm rest as the side panel just clips off anyway. Hope that helps if you have airbag switch in glovebox do not turn ignition on when unplugged or airbay warning will stay on.

Thanks for that.

Think I'll get the unit soon and give a go. If goes Pete Tong can always stop & get someone with half an idea to finish it for me!

Cheers for the reply.
