Aftermarket rims - offset

Back from the dead
Hi

I've just been chatting to a guy from e-bay who says he can get me a set of new style RS4 replica alloys for £295 (new, but without tyres). These are the 18ET x 7.5J size, with 5 stud 112mm PCD.

The offset recommended by Audi is 56mm. However the wheels this guy has do not have a 56mm offset (he said he thought they were less than 50mm).

He is trying to tell me this is perfectly acceptable, but as the car wont be here to check it on until March it is impossible to do a sense check. By then he'll be long gone and there will be no chance to change the wheels if they aren't right.

Any words of wisdom as I haven't got a clue about this kind of stuff.

cheers
W

i think you're right, when i had the lupo gti a wheel dealer in rugely (nr. rugby) sent me the wrong offset wheels and they used to cuff the edge of the arches on full rebound. note to self: when bored i must not browse e-bay mindlessly looking for crap to buy
