Good evening all, first of all, this site is a gold mine of information!

I love my Leon and I only have the air con left to fix to make it perfect. I've had it re-gassed, twice just to be certain. The fans both kick in when the AC is turned on, the clutch also engages and starts spinning. As far as visuals go all seems to be well.

The air that's comes out is not noticeably different to LO without AC. So I did some digging on here today and discovered the climatronic built in re-circ diag thing. I figured check the compressor rpm and see what is going on. It came back as a 0. So I thought reading that clutches fail, check the voltage going to it. Came back as I think 13.7. So I did the channel 52 compressor switch off codes. I had no decimal which seems to indicate the compressor is off. The only other thing I had was a little 0. No dash through the middle so where you have 00.0 I just had the last zero. I'm slightly confused as to what that all means but not having the decimal, would this suggest the compressor is not being allowed to turn on as opposed to it just not working. Or is this going to be a VAG com search?

Once again, great site and I'm hoping there's an AC guru out there!

Thanks.

I should also mention when the air con button is pressed you can hear the revs and noice under the engine change if this makes a difference.

Can you read the refrigerant levels? Who filled the gas? Are you certain it holds vacuum ie has no leaks?

Yeah i think I'm going to have to get it. I hate to skimp but would the £15 ebay/amazon job be good enough for light use by myself? I keep waiting for a guy at work to use his but he's so hard to pin down it would be quicker to get it and do it myself but cant really justify £200 or however much it is for the official version.

£200 is cheap I paid £420 for mine think the cable was £340 VCDS pro hex+can, well worth the money. I'm not sure about the cheap ones mate, I no they can so some but don't no how much, I first got the eBay one for £5 works great with VCDS lite, but had to get the pro version, done a few mods in my own car last night, all doors open with one press instead of two, and lock beep also, and it's a good money maker it's nearly paid for itself already lol

It was re-gassed over a month ago thinking that was the issue. think they took out about 180 odd and refilled to 749 or whatever it is supposed to be. they then checked it last week and took the full amount out and put it back in so it isn't leaking.

Just still waiting for a friend at work to get his bloody laptop and look at it!

Just done a fault read with VCDS, nothing coming up under the fault memory under climatronic. Is there a test plan I can do?

Its been re gassed twice. the second evac was the same as what they put back in so i don't have any leaks.

Ok so after playing with VCDS a little, I've done the HVAC basic settings to set the heating flap stops etc and it stops halfway through with an error message of too much something, can't remember what it was and it now throws this error:

00604 - potentiometer positioning motor for air flow flap (G113)

29-10 short to ground - intermittent.

Would this prevent my air con from blowing icy as you'd expect? Seems like a strange thing to prevent any cold air from getting through?
