I know this as been covered loads of times but not sure my exact question as. I have a cupra 70mm MAF which I have bought a cone filter 70mm. I have just connected the filter straight to the MAF for the time being. Now two reasons why I need to push it towards the wing, because its cooler and I'm planning on making a heat shield (jabba) because its a cupra and not a cupra R the fitting is just not the same were most people don't understand. (MAF comes further out on the cupra R) not 100% but it looks that way to me.
Anyway I've bought a 70mm connecting silicone coupler from eBay. Received it today and it fits onto MAF but its the same diameter of my filter. I feel stupid here because I did some searching as well. Now do I need to buy something else to make this work or do I need to return it for something else? I didn't think I needed a reducer because I bought a 70mm filter. Which i now wish I bought a 80mm. Sorry for long thread people

The alloy coupler diameter is smaller than my air filter and silicone joiner? Right I get it now haha. So why label it 70mm? Why not 68-69 or what ever it is.

the pipe i bought is a nice snug fit, its sat in front of me ready to go on, id rather have it a little snug than all loose if you get me ;) haha!

Because it's a 70 mm external alloy pipe to fit inside a 70mm internal diameter hose...Simples..

Yes but they don't state that. Just say 70mm alloy joiner. So I thought why pay an extra £7 when I only need a silicone joiner that will do the same job, obviously I was wrong lol. I might just use a piece of gutter pipe? Or would you say that's too much of a bodge job lol

ive noticed the bays on these engines get super hot, hot cold, hot cold and plastic may cause it to become brittle i mean its a long shot at best but why risk a turbo for 7quid i say?
