Hi all

Looking for a bit of advice, I have a Jetex 175mm Air Filter fitted think the neck size is 80mm, I am trying to push the air filter further out to the wing for better air flow....

I have read posts on couplers but all i think i need is a straight alloy pipe to fit between the air filter and silicone hose already fitted.

If the neck size is 80mm do i need a 80mm peice of pipe or does it have to be slightly smaller to fit?

The air filter and silcone hose in flexible so i am right in thinking the 80mm pipe will fit in both the silicone hose and air filter.

Heres a pic how it is atm:

Cheers

It will depend on what bore size the hose is.
A 80mm joiner will fit the filter but by the looks of your setup the hose is smaller, you may need to buy a reducing elbow hose.
if the hose isnt much smaller than 80mm you may get away with it by using a lot of force.

Is the LC filter a different size to the LCR? I'm sure my filter was 80mm.

The neck size is defo 80mm and the silicone hose fits in the air filter nicely, Thats why im confused and dont know what the best option is....

Do you know anywhere that has a good choice of couplers?

Thx Again!!

the simplest way would be to buy a 70-80mm reducing hose to fit from MAF to alloy joiner.
then a 80mm joiner to fit from hose to jetex.
most hose companies should sell both.

Nice 1 cheers Tuck3r thats helped! I didnt know what would fit where so will look for a 70mm - 80mm joiner, Its confusing to be attempting something so simple lol.

Whilst im on the silicone route ive been thinking about buying a TIP for a while now, I know everybody says these are a must esp after a remap...

Do they make a big difference, Ive read many posts but havnt seen anybody state what performance gains you get after fitting?

With the tip i believe its more about the oem one collapsing rather than any massive gains to be had from aftermarket ones.

Except for Bills new tip which looks to be getting good gains but i dont think he does one for the LC yet.

He won't need both.

Cupra Mat - Is the 45 degree angle bend going from maf to filter a reducer? Going from 80mm (filter end) reducing to 70mm (maf end)? If so all you need is a metal coupler, maybe about 2.5", which will go between 45 degree angle pipe and filter. Job done

It looks like his hose is just one diameter 70mm as the jetex sits over the hose.

Cheers for the help guys, Yes its a 70mm 45mm hose and 10mm thick so fits over the top of the maf and then fits inside the 80mm air filter neck.

Was only looking to keep the existing hose for the bend really and add a pipe on to extend out...

What do you suggest would be best ?as even more indecisive haha!

You will need a reducer in there somewhere, not sure if you can get them but an alloy reducer would be easy for you.

you probably shouldn't have the jetex sat directly on a hose either really, doesnt seem like it would be the best option.

Ah i see. Most people use the joiner for the filter to connect to. In that case Tuck3r was right. You'll need:

A new 45 degree 70mm-80mm reducer
80mm metal coupler

just seen this post and was wondering where you got the jetex filter from, how much, and did the smaller breather filter come with it? cheers

Linky = http://www.jetex.co.uk/website/conefilters.php?insided=80mm

I choose the top one the 175mm cone, Up to you how big you want the filter tbh, and the small breather pipe i had lying around that i brought ages ago for a couple of quid and sqeezed it into the breather pipe ;)

Probs the best bet is to pick have a look on flebay see if you can pick one up cheap, i cut a peice of breather pipe to place over the existing filter neck as was to small so it was a tight fit into the breather pipe so didnt require any fittings or cable ties :D
